Seriously considering upgrading from a studio to a 1 bed this summer but I have a couple of questions

Are all the 1 beds refurbished now (or will be by August )?

Do they all have 2 sofa beds in the lounge area now ? The kids not having to share would be great.

Ive just watched a youtube video and the 1 beds look gorgeous and so spacious-on the other hand £500 to upgrade is a lot of money !

Thanks

Think the refurb was due to be finished by this spring so August should be fine. There is only one sofa bed but there is also a sleeper chair (single) so that could work for you. They may argue over who gets which!

I really wish that the 1 bed rooms would allow 5.:sad2: Other rooms with less floor space allow 5 - it would be so much cheaper than the 2 bed for us.

I would definitely have a 1 bed over a studio though.

Went to look around one(Pootle's) last month.
In August it would be about £650 to upgrade for our 16 nights, for us not worth the money because we wouldn't use it enough but anyone that spends a bit of time in their room its well worth the extra you get a lot more for your money compared to a studio which is basically an oversized hotel room.
If you have the £500 spare go for it, if it stops you doing something else then consider which you would prefer.

Thanks all of you :)

Yes I meant a sofa bed and a sleeper chair, oldest one would get the sofa bed ! So all the 1 beds would have them ?

We disnt spend that much time in the room last year (at SSR) but when we were there it was great to spread out,we had a 1 bed there-we were spoilt ! I thought we would sit on the balcony but after a day at the parks we wanted to chill in the air conditioned room.

We have the money, but still its a lot !

Still not sure but thanks for the advice:)

For us we are more than happy with a basic hotel room with 2 beds, even when we had a 2 bed apartment at Windsor Hills we never used the living/kitchen area, just the beds. Same with balcony or a varandah on a crusie, completely wasted on us.
I would rather put the money towards a cruise, Discovery cove, helicopter trip, Hot air balloon...... so much more I can find to do with £650 for me.

Have you stayed at OKW before?

The studio rooms are lovely and very spacious. The kitchen area with toaster/microwave/fridge was more than enough for us combined with DDP.

Would stay in a studio again no problem at OKW.

We only have 1 DD though.

No Ive never stayed at OKW, only SSR last year which we loved but just fancied a change this year.

It is a lot of money just for another room isnt it and with the children being older we will be out a lot of the time, probably not worth it really.

I would definitely go for the 1 bed over the studio. We stayed in one last year and enjoyed it so much that we are going again this August.
The 1 bed felt huge, plenty big enough for the four of us (2 daughters 11 &13).
Ours was a refurbed unit - 2 large flatscreen tvs, new furniture etc, and with the full kitchen, whirlpool bath, washing machine and dryer, we had everything we wanted.

They do allow 5 in the refurbed rooms at OKW - and so does kidani and BLT.

Are you sure? That would be great! When I have done dummy bookings, it has never allowed me to select a 1 bed.

they do allow 5 as my infants are classed as 2 and i was going to add my 15 year old sister with VH and they had to check but were allowed and we have a 1 bed booked

I just phoned and asked - I was told 4 plus an infant.:sad2: It would cost us more than £1000 less to stay in a 1 bed.

If you have 2 adults 2 children & 1 infant you can book any room including a studio (even a basic room in a value resort) but change the infant to a 3rd child and it only allows a 2 bed villa or other limited rooms.

I read somewhere that you can have 5 in them but only if you are using points. For some reason if you are paying cash then the occupancy level is 4. Seems very strange to me and I hope it changes soon as being a family of 5 this would make a big difference to us

Yes i've also seen 5 ok in a 1 bed for DVC members or if you have rented DVC points. But 4 in a 1 bed otherwise.

I think the extra sleeper chairs are to increase the marketability of the rooms - a lot of people wouldn't want to share a sofa bed eg 2 sibling teens opposite sex.

I imagine lure of OKW is free dining so points rental isn't attractive.

I would guess that once the refurb is finished they may up the limit of the one beds to 5.

I would go for the one bed over a studio. Firstly I like having a washer and dryer in the room. Secondly it is not a holiday if we have to share a room with DD for 2 weeks. A couple nights we can do but not a couple of weeks! :rolleyes1
