TTS has a 1,000 pt contract for OKW in their active listing.

Thats more points than I've seen ever in a single contract.
What the biggest contract that you have or have seen. Who would be interested in a contract that big?! Other than the current owner?

That is a lot. The biggest I saw while we were shopping was one for 680 points at the BWV.

Large contracts are usually purchased by corporations and companies.

I'd imagine that they'll have enough trouble selling that, the price could slide until it's a real 'bargain per point' for anyone with the money and inclination...

If memory serves me right, there were 2 1000 point contracts listed a couple of years ago.

I've never heard of corporations owning points. I believe that 2000 points is the limit for number of points in a single contract, but families with the money have been known to put contracts in the names of many different members, thus owning many thousands of points.

Prices won't slide beyond what DVC will allow. Don't forget, they can buy any contract through ROFR and divide it up any way they wish.

Simzac is right. It may have been off the market for a while, but this contract was previously listed, also at $80 per point which is way too high.

When we purchased - back in 1994... - we were told that they didn't want someone owning enough points to live there year round (maybe there are legal entitlements with establishing permanent residence somewhere? or maybe they just didn't want some people becoming permanent fixtures with all the sense of entitlement that might give them? whatever...) and that the maximum you could buy would allow you to stay for 6 months per year.
This was a long time ago and the rules/limits have probably been adjusted since.

Mmm... living in DVC year round. Has anyone done the math on what that would cost in points? A studio through every season of the year?

It may be expensive but at least you'd get value out of your AP!

Could be. The last thing Disney would want is a Member with voting rights in RCID. Then again, I'd want at least a 1BR, and now you are talking serious points. :)

Hmm...half the year (6 months) Oct. 1 - March 30 at OKW in a studio is 2,404 points, at BCV in a studio is 3,044 points.
:rotfl: I think I need to start buying more points!

12,847 is the total points needed for a 1 Br from 1/1 thru 12/31 at the BCV.

You know, if it weren't RTU, that wouldn't be half bad. At current resale prices, you're looking at a shade over $1.15 M for a 1BR condo on Epcot's doorstep!

Of course the dues are perhaps the bigger problem: north of $61K per year.

I did the math once and posted here...I'll try and dig it up later as I have to leave shortly.

I believe the max points currently are 2000 in any one resort, and 5000 overall. I _think_ it was possible with 5000 points to stay at an OKW studio year round.

I remember when Greenban bought the 1000 points a couple of years ago - or maybe three. I think he also bought an 1100 point contract, too. Plus some others. I wondered if this was one of his.

DisFlan

I think for that type of cash, I am buying a house right outside the gate and paying a limo driver to take me everywhere if I don't want to drive. ;)

OK, found my old post...it is _theoretically_ possible to stay year round at an AKV Value Studio:

OK, I was curious...so I took the 2008 points chart, took the cheapest room category (AKV Value Studio), and added up the points. Assuming I got them right, per month:

Jan: 312
Feb: 379
Mar: 485
Apr: 410
May: 379
Jun: 390
Jul: 421
Aug: 409
Sep: 304
Oct: 329
Nov: 331
Dec: 372
Total: 4521

The total cap on points is 5000, so this is actually possible, assuming no problems booking at 7 months (there is a 2000 cap at any one resort).

Of course, if I was going to stay for a long time, I'd want a full kitchen - and that's not going to happen (points roughly double going to a 1BR).

That one has been listed for years. I think I remember that one back in the late 90's when we were looking to add at OKW.

Friends of ours bought 1200 points in 1994 at OKW after I raved about it.
