As some of you know, I've been asking a lot of Oklahoma questions recently. We're here for DH's work. He found out tonight that he can take the day off tomorrow. This is our first time in Oklahoma, so we want to see Oklahoma City. It's about a two hour drive from here one way, so we'll be limited in what we're able to do. If you had about 6 hours to spend there, what would you do/see & where would you eat?

Well, we're back from OKC. I thought I'd share what we did in case anyone searches for OKC info here in the future. We basically had a list of highlights we wanted to see & were able to see them all in a short amount of time.

Our first stop was the Stockyards. We took a photo of the statue to send to our DS, then walked around the area. Upon inquiring about a public restroom, we were directed to Cattleman's Steakhouse. We were thinking about sharing an appetizer & ordering an alcoholic beverage to start off our visit. On the way to the restroom, everyone I saw was drinking iced tea, so I wrongly assumed they didn't serve alcohol. We decided to skip it. (*More on this later.) The theater appeared to be very unique. If were had more time, we would have seen a movie simply to experience the theater.

Next, we went by the memorial for the Federal Building bombing. We couldn't find a nearby place to park, so we just looked at what we could see driving by.

We're sports fans, so our next stop was to take photos of Chesapeake Energy Arena (home of the OKC Thunder) to send our DS.

Our final destination was Bricktown. The large mural on the wall separating Bricktown from Downtown was the most interesting thing we've seen in Oklahoma. That alone was worth the drive from Gore. After parking, we went to lunch. Based on the reviews I saw on my phone, we went to Pearl's Crabtown, which serves New Orleans style seafood. (I wish I would have looked for reviews on my PC last night. Strangely, the star rating is lower than it is on my phone. FWIW, we found the computer rating to be more accurate to our experience.) The food was okay, but we wouldn't be in a hurry to return. After lunch, we walked around that area, then made our way to the path along the water. If we're ever in the area again, we'd return to experience Bricktown at night.

We ended up having a great day. It was worth the 1 hr. 45 min. drive each way in order to get a little taste of what OKC has to offer.

*After getting back to our Airbnb & looking up Cattleman's Steakhouse in the Stockyards, we're really regretting not eating there instead of Pearl's. If we get a chance to return to OKC, we'll definitely eat there. Forget appetizers, we'd like to return for the bacon wrapped filets.
