Okay, why is my Avatar sideways..?!

Embarrassed to ask this, but why the heck is my Avatar sideways?! The source photo is not sideways. I have even rotated the source photo and it remains in the same position (facing left!)
Important? No. Has it been annoying me for five months? Yes! Help!

Im pretty sure that happens when you are formatted improperly or over the size limit.

One of the most recent updates here made any photos taken on phones post in the landscape format.

A work around is to go to the photo and edit it (I just edit out one row of pixels). Then it should post in the format you want it to.
