Now that swimsuits are out, I'm looking and wondering if I'm really too old now for a bikini. I've seen woman on beaches, etc. who should not be wearing one and I don't want to fall into that category!!!

Does anyone think there should be an upper age limit for bikinis???

I'm 36 by the way.

If the body is tight and nothing "really" hanging over the sides, you're never too old. Although I'd never want to see my 75 y/o mother in one.

36 is not too old.

Hi,

I don't think something like that has an age limit attached to it. But I have also seen some people that really haven't had the bikini do them justice.

That being said, I think if you're comfortable in it and think it looks good on you suit the wearer and not the starer(as my Mom would say)!

Happy Shopping!

I think it's more a "body" thing than an "age" thing. I think there are women in their 40's who could wear a bikini and some women in their 20's who shouldn't, IMHO.

Nope, no age limit for a bikini--wear what YOU like!

I also don't think there is a size limit, either, but then I *am* a fat woman who wears bikinis, so of course I am biased! My feeling is....I'm wearing the suit for me, not for you (collective you, no one particularly) and if you don't like it--don't look! Simple enough! :)

(edited for spelling...yikes!)

I agree, it's not the age, it's the body. I have seen women about my age (33 or so) wearing bikinis and their belly was hanging over the waist, butt screaming out of the back, boobs hanging out - in all the wrong places. After 2 C-sections and a combined 18 monthes of breastfeeding, I have to choose my suits very carefully. Use your best judgement, but no 36 is not too old.

I totally agree. ::yes::

You rock! Good for you!

I still wear a bikini...and I'll be 40 this summer! Luckily, 3 kids later, I can still fit into a size 3. Even if I didn't though...I would still wear one is I felt comfortable. Like others have said, "if you don't like it, then don't look. besides, most 30-40 year olds I know look better than many 20 year olds!

Just by asking the question tells me that if you don't look good in one, you probably won't wear one. But, having said that, if you have a teenage daughter you could ask her. Mine tells me exactly how I look in everything, and what I should and shouldn't be wearing, whether I want her to or not!

:magnify:

Like most things...if you feel ok with it go for it :)

Let your body and your mirror be your guides.

While I agree that you can wear whatever you want, be aware that there will be some people who think it's a bit much. If you don't care what those people think, then go for it. Since you are asking honest opinions, I'll admit to being someone who prefers not to see women over a certain age in bikinis.

It should be each woman's choice what to wear. If someone doesn't like the way you look in a swim suit, that is their issue, not yours.

There are probably very few women at the pool or beach at any given time who fit the sterotypical ideal of the perfect body that the media portrays. I think every woman should be out having fun with her children, enjoying vacation, spending time relaxing, regardless of her shape. Wear what you are comfortable in that is acceptable to the situation without a second thought.

I agree with disykat-there are guidelines. To me, it's not always just what I feel or am comfortable with, but what's socially acceptable also. I'm in great shape and recently bought a skirt and long boots. I wear it, yet I do acknowledge that it may be a little short. Oprah had a show recently on looking great over 35 and the person on there admitted that there is a fine line between looking good, classy, and tasteful and looking like an aging woman trying to hang on to her youth. (Not her exact words, but that was her point).

My big issue with the bikini is my age and how white my skin is, not the shape I'm in.

I think it's great that you still look good in a bikini. I do think it also depends on the age of your kids if you have any. Sometimes kids kind of get uncomfortable about their parents trying to look to young. I personally think that lots of the 2 piece suites they have now..don't have to be a bikini..show plenty of skin ...comfortable..but with just a look that says:I look good, but don't have to flaunt it" Also depends on circumstances..are you at the pool with your kids..or on a vacation with your husband/boyfirend? My son was 14 when I was 36..so..I went to a one piece.. and the two piece..but no bikini..but that's just me. I guess it's really what you're comfortable with...but obviously you are thinkin' about it...so?
