Okay...tell me about the lasting physical repercussions of pregnancy...

The only thing I can think of is my feet are half a size bigger. Just enough to make me have to replace almost all my shoes. No other issues for me. My husband did have an issue with the cost of replacing all those shoes! :rotfl: That was his issue not mine. He got over it!

First, no matter what my kids are worth every single un-pleasantry I had to deal with no exceptions and I would do it all again in a heartbeat.

When I was pregnant I got carpal tunnel which never went away 100% . I remember telling the Dr as the pain and numbness traveled up my hands to my arms finally leaving me unable to write my name and I had to sleep with my hands straight out over my head. It subsided after the kids were born more or less but still flares up to a lesser degree from time to time. I couldn't figure it out because I never used my hands all that much but all the Dr's said it was the pregnancy that did it:confused3

My feet also got bigger, along with the rest of me:rotfl:

Oh, and I swell up almost 2 lbs worth when I eat salty foods, which I love. I don't know if this is only because of the pre-eclampsia or not.

I started to snore while pregnant and supposedly still do.

I had wicked want to strip down no heat on in the house all day hot flashes the last trimesters.

At your stage of pregnancy is when the insomnia kicked in full speed. I couldn't sleep at night but remember falling asleep for 2 hours on the floor in my walk in closet while trying to put away clothes!

There was sinus congestion too, those adhesive nose flaps worked.

My skin got permanently better because I, like you, stopped using creams etc and discovered it was the junk I was putting on my face to improve it which was making me break out. SO much for truth in advertising.

But the most lasting effect is feeling a love that I never could have imagined possible before I brought my 2 amazing children into this world:cloud9: Who cares if I needed new shoes, can't eat popcorn the day before a fancy event, snore a bit or need to rest my hands from time to time. I got 2 little miracles and my very own wonderful family in exchange and I would have given 10 times as much of myself to end up here :goodvibes

My (previously severe) allergies mostly went away.

I had the gallbladder thing too! Thought I was going into VERY early labor and drove myself, 1/2 hour away, to the hospital. Didn't have the recommended surgery, and didn't have any more episodes for nearly 14 years. Then I had four or five in 2 years, and nothing in the last 18 months. I really should have it out, I suppose.

I second skin tags.

My hearing, however, has gotten better -- I heard every little wheeze, cough, snort, fart... and now I can't stop hearing them! Of course, they're boys and boys love their noise...

My feet actually grew a size in length not wider. I got heel spurs because of it and ended up having surgery on both feet after suffering for 4 years and nothing helped. Feet are pain free now!!
Hip problems to this day. My son was long and stretched side ways most of my pregnancy. I'm a side sleeper and my hips kill me at night and wake me up.
Bladder issues.
And I have an irregular heart beat that I take meds for and have had 2 heart ablations done. Still misfires! :sad2:

I have great kids and would go through all of it again in a heart beat, even an irregular one! LOL! :goodvibes

I didn't get any strechmarks on my stomach or chest from pregnancy. However, I had a really horrible time with swelling in my legs. So much so, that I ended up with strechmarks on my calves! What the heck?? I never imagined such a thing. If I keep my legs tanned they aren't too noticeable. But, how weird is that?

I can honestly say I have one lasting ill effect from pregnancy, my hair is so much thinner! But I can't complain because my weight went back to normal both times very quickly (actually I weigh less than before I got pregnant and I only gained 12lbs the first time and 16 lbs the second time, I am petite to begin with so this was a good amount for me and my body type), no stretch marks, no growth in my feet, extra flab, etc. But I do know many who have the 'battle scars' of pregnancy. It's a very personal experience and it seems like no two people are the same.

Oh, duh! I forgot the even bigger one. I lost the hearing in my left ear. The doc at the time said it was a side effect of the pregnancy hormone mixing with my genetic predispostion for otosclerosis. Several doctors have since concurred. Only one has said no to the science behind it. I guess I'll never really know. It was enough to keep us from having more kids until we knew for sure. Now I think that shipped has sailed, unfortunately. Regardless, I'd give up any part of my senses to have my son in my life.

My feet also went up a half size, I ended up with a few skin tags, but the worst is the stretch marks. But with twins I think the chances of ending up with those are higher.

Same here. The surgeon who removed mine said that 60% of his gallbladder surgeries were woman who had just had a baby.

It is well known in the medical community....gallbladder risks:

Fair
Fat
Fertile
Forty
Female

In pregnancy the bile movement gets slowed due to the lack of space..no movement, stones form faster.

I have only had one pregnancy, but the lasting impression it made was the mood swings. I did not have PPD, but my highs and lows are much greater after having her.

I noticed my nails seem a little stronger - I can't take regular prenatals (even regular multis make me sick) but I take some gummy multis that have folic acid in them that my dr said are fine, and maybe those are helping.

i thought i was the only person who had a problem with taking vitamins!! they make my stomach a complete knot. i've tried taking B, C, and D vitamins and everytime they give me horrible stomach problems! glad to know i'm not the only one who has that!

i have a ?? since we're on the topic of pregnancy and everything.

how long were you in labor for? because i have a pretty good pain tolerance(i've gotten piercings, tattoos, teeth pulled without any kind of sedation) but my main concern for when i do eventually have kids(cuz i have none yet, maybe in a few years), is the whole "being in labor" thing taking so long.

i have NO patience. none!! so i'm more worried about being in labor for 10+ hours than the actual pain. i can see myself now telling the doctors/nurses/staff "if this thing doesn't come out within the next hour, i'm going home!" :hippie:

oh yeah.. I got sick within days of having my second, and I had my gall bladder out when she was 2 months old.

In can vary in each person of course.. I was induced with my older two, and they each lasted about 6-7 hours. Really.. I didnt notice it taking so long. I was in MONDO pain, got my epi, and slept until the baby came. With my twins, I went in.. they gave me an eip right away. I was already a five, and with one baby being breech, they really recommended it.. The pumped me full of pitocin, I passed out for an hour, and they came back in and the babies were out within 20 minutes. So mine didnt last very long at all.

My things that bother me from having babies.. I cant do anything without peeing my pants. Laugh, sneeze.. NOTHING! I hate it. I have saggy girls, and twin skin.. I feel like every inch of my body is covered in stretch marks.. But I did carry almost 14 pounds of baby during my last pregnancy, so dont count on your stuff being so bad! I average 3-4 hours of sleep at night, again, I have 9 month old twins who dont sleep.

But i wouldnt change a minute of it for anything in the world!!

6-7 hours isn't long, imo. i just hear all these people talk about "20+ hours of labor" and i would be in rare form of that happened to me, i know it right now lol.

twins run on both sides of my DH's family, and on my father's side of the family......so everyone thinks that when we do start having kids, that we'll probably have a set of twins :scared1:

:lmao: I think this thread kind of proves that you don't really forget! DD is 19 and I remember vividly how very much I hated every second of being pregnant. I mean, I really wanted a baby, I just hated the process.

I only have one minor leftover--I'd never had heartburn until I was pregnant. Raw green peppers triggered it and I still can't eat them to this day. They are the only thing that gives me heartburn.

Okay, so maybe "forget" is the wrong word!! :rotfl: I haven't forgotten either, but near the end of each of my pregnancies, I SWORE I never wanted to have another baby...and now I'm dreaming of baby #3. So...you don't forget the pain/discomfort, but maybe in retrospect it doesn't seem so bad. For me at least!

Sometimes being PG does suck and that's just the way it is!! :-) Don't feel bad about it, not everyone is the glowing happy pregnant woman!! I am not most of the time!!!

As far as lasting physical changes ... I am sure, just like everything it differs with each person and with what you do to combat it. For me it's my poochy stomach from my c-section. Could I change it with alot of hard exercise? Probably to a certain extent!! My bladder control ... it's just a little weaker! And of course the TWINS ... they never recovered, not from being pregnant but from nursing.

Those are the only things I can think of honestly! Of course getting PG the second time meant that all the things that started to bother me around 28-30 weeks pregnant that first time started cropping up around 20weeks this time. Achy back and hips the most!

well i just had a baby 12 weeks ago...my second child

some of the things...

numbness around c-section scar.
i developed I.B.S. after first pregnancy...maybe it is my gallbladder:confused3
my feet got bigger...was 6 1/2 now wear 7
my fingers also got bigger..went from 3 1/2 ring size to size 4
and a pregancy bump that seems to be staying forever.....:rotfl:

I have permanently wider hips, didn't know that would happen.
C-section scar. My DD just turned 13 months and I still have numbness at and around the scar.
No brain. It is gone, never to be found again.

I have only had one pregnancy, but the lasting impression it made was the mood swings. I did not have PPD, but my highs and lows are much greater after having her.

Yes, I am the same way! It feels like some weeks I have constant PMS and it's no where near time for AF.

I have stretch marks and a scar from my C-section. Of course my situation is unique but I female problems after I had my son. 18 months later, I had to have a hysterectomy.

I wouldn't trade my scars and in ablity to have another child for nothing. My son is my world...my everything...and my life. I would have a million more scars for him!!!!
