Okay, so I inhaled a piece of plastic last night...

and I think it is still in there somewhere.

Last night I bit off a piece of plastic to open a Burger King Care Bear toy for Mo and promptly inhaled the damn thing. I started hacking and coughing and Mo started screaming like I was dying and Chris just stood there with a "What the hell is she doing now" look on his face.

Ever since, I've had this "feeling" in my chest like something is there. I keep trying to cough and it isn't really helping. Could it be lodged? :rotfl: I can breathe fine and it doesn't even feel like it is in my airway. I don't know I can't explain it. I'm an idiot, nevermind me. :teeth:

In a week I'll probably cough up a nasty looking piece of plastic. :crazy2:

Well I don't know, but I am having a hard time swallowing now. :rotfl:

I'm sorry - I know it's not funny, but this part of your post gave me the giggles! :rotfl:

I'm thinking a trip or at the least a phone call to the dr or ER is in order to make sure that it is not lodged in there someplace.

It could probably cause you major problems if it is.

Well, will someone pass the barf bag, please? :crazy2: :teeth:

Don't ask me why I feel the need to share this here, but this reminded of the time that one of DH's co-workers went to lunch with us. We were in DH's car and all of a sudden, the guy announces that a piece of popcorn that got stuck between his teeth, almost a week earlier, had just dislodged itself. :crazy2: :crazy2: :crazy2: :crazy2: :crazy2: :crazy2: :crazy2: :crazy2: :crazy2: :crazy2: :crazy2:

Trust me, there aren't enough barf smilies out there to accurately show you what I thought about the guy and still think about him. Apparently, he wasn't familiar with dental floss. :crazy2: :crazy2: :crazy2: :crazy2: :crazy2: :crazy2:

BTW, we need a better barf smilie. :teeth: :teeth:

Some lady on Oprah held a sewing needle in her mouth and inhaled it and had to have surgery. As long as you're breathing fine, you'll probably just *pass* it.

If you actually inhaled it into your lung, I would think it could cause a problem. I'd call the doctor and at least hear what he has to say. My grandmother once inhaled a piece of corn. They ended up using a scope thing to remove it from her lung. They said that any foreign body in your lungs can end up causing a condition like pnuemonia. I hope you are okay!

I don't think it is in my lung. It feels like it is at the base of my throat actually.

Well, that sounds much better. You probably have an abrasion. If it doesn't clear up in a few days, I'd call the doctor if I were you.

Feel better!

Not sure, and not to scare you, but in the CPR/first aid class I took a few weeks ago we were told that even when you are sure that the whole object came all the way out, you should get checked out...they used the example of a case where a child choked on a Christmas ornament and then almost died later from a chip of paint from the ornament that went into his lungs.

I had a pill get stuck in the base of my throat like where you're talking about, but pills disolve, so I didn't worry too much about it, it took a few days though, and I was miserable, even tried drinking a lot of water and throwing up. Everyone thought I was crazy.
