I am hopelessly addicted to cruising on the Disney Magic, and I want to share my new-found entertainment with everyone I know! More importantly, I want to go again and again. I have gone on the last two cruises with my best friend, and while we have a super time together, due to some physical limitations as well as her conservative personality, there are several things that I would like to participate in and have not yet been able to. SO...... I booked a cruise for next year. Originally, I was going to go with my childhood friend (a different friend), who is a little younger than I, and not quite as finacially stable. This would mean, that if I went with her, I would pay her way.... and I had every intention of doing that (it really is more for me than her, as I get to share this WONDERFUL vacation with someone I would have an absolute BLAST with, AND I get to experience all those "first cruise experience" moments as she experiences them.... I get to show someone my new fascination!!) But today, I got to thinking... currently I'm single and while I would like something different for myself (he doesn't even have to be that cute, just nice & Christian will do ;) ), at this time it doesn't look good..... anyway, if that were to be the case for awhile, then what I have right now is five nieces who I absolutely adore and LOVE to spend time with. I'm thinking maybe (I was inspired by another DISers, who's name currently escapes me) that I should take each of them (one at a time of course) on a cruise. First, it would guarantee me five more cruises, and second I think we could have a blast!! Each of their personalities are so different, that we could just do things together that they would love.... for instance, my oldest niece (13) would think it would be so cool to get a manicure or a facial..... she would love that!! And my youngest niece (4) would be about 8 by the time her turn came around, but it would almost be perfect for her to really remember it and all. So what do you guys think? As long as I'm paying anyway, do you think I would enjoy it more with a "full of life" friend my age (or there-abouts), or my sweet adorable nieces??

Take me, I promise, you'll have the time of your life. :teeth:

Hey, I'm cute, nice and a Christian too, guess I don't have that male thing going for me though... :p

Yeah, sorry Michelle, but I'm kind of into boys.......:D

I think it is extremely generous of you to want to share your enjoyment of a cruise with others like that!! :) :) :)

My guess is that you would enjoy going with both your friend and neices equally, yet in different ways. . . but if you've already offered to take your friend first, it'd be unkind to just say you changed your mind.

Anyway you can take your friend, and then each neice and just spread it out an extra year or two? :)

Oh, good point Willy...... just so you know, no one has been offered the trip..... neither my friend, nor my nieces know anything about it. So, no one would get shafted. My friend and I have talked about going on a cruise together, but only based on her paying her own way, and currently that's not a possibility. Did that make sense??

I took a class once with a woman who had a lot of grandchildren. Every winter vacation the next grandchild who turned 6 was the next to go to WDW with the grandparents.

One little one who went and it was his brothers turn this year was begging to go along. I don't know how it was resolved but you might run into that problem.

Good luck whatever you decide.

I say take your nieces. I only have one niece (probably the only niece or nephew I will have :( ) and she arrived after I already had a kid, so I was not in a position to spoil her like I wanted to.

Imagine the magic of seeing the cruise through a child's eye? I think every child should have a neat Aunt or Uncle and these kids sound like they have it. Good luck in you decision.

Heidi,

You are such a good person. I agree that if you start with your friend, and then move onto the neices, that would be cool. Or start with a neice, take a friend, take another neice, take Debster, another neice, Debster and Tamie, neice #4, etc. :teeth: :teeth:

My very first trip to the World was with a very special aunt and uncle who had no children of their own. Although it was many years ago, (there was only MK, and I wore a polyester pants suit to the park!) I still treasure the memories of that trip.

Your nieces will treasure a trip with you and will remember it for their lifetimes!

Nice try Deb!! LOL!!! ;) :teeth:

Got ya Heidi! :) :) Since you haven't made any promises, then I'd say make a list of the things you haven't been able to do on your previous trips and figure out who'd be the best to enjoy them with you.. . :)

And again, whatever you decide, I think it's very cool of you to think of others like that. . :) :)

wdw4us - I actually thought of that..... in fact, that's why I didn't plan originally on the girls. But, they are 13, 11, 10, 8, & 3. I'm pretty sure the older ones would understand and know they have to wait their turn.... we have a very strong "life is not fair" philosophy in our family, and while that doesn't make waiting any easier, it has allowed me the opportunity to go shopping with the 13 year old and leave the 10 year old behind.... simply because it just wasn't her turn this time. She still sticks her bottom lip out, but she adjusts. I will, however, have a horrible time leaving the three year old behind.... she is my little buddy, and what a "button" she is!! You guys would fall hopelessly in love with her big blue eyes and incredibly sweet and funny personality. At Christmas dinner from the other end of the table.... "Heidi" "What Co-Co (short for Chloe)?" "I love you". Oh, it just melts me into one big pile of mush!!! How can I leave that behind???? Maybe I take her and the oldest, and then her and the next one, and then her and the next......and then her and the next, and then her alone..... oh my, I wonder when I'll fit Debster in there??? :teeth:

Update: Okay, paras4ri, that did it!! I'm taking the girls!! That's the kind of thing I want for them.... memories to last a lifetime!! ARGHHHH - If I would win the lottery, I would take my friend, my nieces and all of you guys!!! (I guess you have to play to win though, huh??)

Groosch!?!?!?!!!

That's great. Want me to see if I can dig up a pants suit for you to wear????

:teeth:

lol Gail.

My first trip to the World was when I was 7, and my Nana took me. (Her first NYE without my Gramps). It was also only the MK, and I think I had on polyester pants suits as well!!!! Yikes!

Heidi, some of those memories of that first trip are still some of my fondest of my grandmother. I say take the girls, I'll wait my turn.

And, GP, you big stud muffin you!!!!

Gosh paras4ri, while that's a very generous offer, I'm going to have to politely decline..... I'm uhhhhh....... allergic to polyester.
Hey Debster, is it wrong to lie if you're trying not to hurt someone's feelings??

And Goofus..... while that's very tempting, you are married and therefore off limits!! Dork! Besides, your ears are a little big for my taste.

Heidi, I think a little white lie, so as not to hurt Gail's feelings would be fine!

You know, my DS actually had a contact allergic skin reaction to a polyester baseball shirt he wore last year, so it can happen.

Hey Gail,

Were they bell bottoms???????

I would take a couple of the nieces at a time, that way they can keep each other company too and you'll have more laughs around the dinner table. Have a great time!
