We're headed to the World for our first stay at GF, lagoon view. Hope we get a view of the castle as requested. Can you believe we've never stepped foot in the place? Help me get even more hyped for a seven night stay!

I'm booked for January....and would love to hear your "first-timers" report! We went for the Alice Tea Party (or rather my two daughters went) and they just raved and raved about it! My husband, son and I rented mice boats while they had their shindig and really enjoyed the grounds. I just hope the room and atmosphere are enjoyed by my children....I think they could have fun anywhere...but they've really enjoyed the Poly/AKL and I just hope the GF will not disappoint them...I think I'll love it...the decor is so relaxing! :)
Have a great time!

You will love the GF. My kids have done the Wonderland Tea Party and the Pirate Cruise and really enjoyed them. Next July they're going to try Grand Adventures in Cooking. The pools are great and service fantastic. Also if you can request a Sago Cay lagoon view (MK), it is incredibly quiet and peaceful in Sago Cay. Can't wait until we're back at the GF (8 more months).

We just returned from the GF for 6 nights. We were in room #7428.

A wonderful direct view of the Castle! We watched the fireworks from our room 5 of the 6 nights we were there .

Quiet, beautiful view, in a dormer room.

service was amazing

dylan wont stay anywhere else

For what it's worth, I think there are a decent number of lagoon view rooms in both Conch Key and Sago Cay that do not have great MK views, so if you do request one of those at check in, make sure to note that it's really the MK you're interested in. (As I understand it, though, the lagoon rooms in these two buildings that do face the MK are among the best MK facing rooms -- they are nearer to the ends of the building. There just aren't as many, so lagoon view in these buildings won't guarantee you MK.) Virtually every lagoon view in Boca Chica, on the other hand, has an MK view.

If MK is important to you, the one you definitely don't want is Big Pine Key. Half the building is lagoon view, but faces the Poly. There are some rooms on the very end that do face the MK.

To me this is funny statemant and when you get back you will see why, the place is so beautiful and truely a "magical" experience overall, that it seems funny to hear someone say hype me up, for me just knowing I'm going is HYPE enough,
HAVE A GREAT FIRST TRIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!princess:

Admittedly, I was already hyped. But we're just 16 days out and I wanted just a little more. :o):) :)

We were there 2 weeks ago and we are now spoiled. It is a lovely place and especially in the early morning. Take a walk when it is quiet. Take your coffee down to the boat dock and just soak in the atmosphere. We were in Conch Key with a garden view room. At checkin the CM said we had a choice of garden, marina or pool view. We choose marina. It was great. We looked out on the entire marina, we could watch the monorails go by, and if you leaned out just a little and looked right you could see the castle and fireworks. Oh how I wish I was back there.

We also saw 2 weddings with the white horses and coach. Lovely!!

I could go on and on. The place is great!

If you want a view of the castle..you need a marina view..believe me!!!

The GF did not thrill us at all..in fact..it was anything but Grand..and we have stayed at every disney resort except saratoga springs.

Please elaborate. I like the good and the bad.

I really don't think you need people on here telling the good and bad you just need to go discover the resort for yourself. Enjoy and have a good vacation.

The only problem with staying at GF is you will get spoiled and won't want to stay anywhere else, at least that's what happened to us. We tried to stay at POR and lasted less than 2 hours. Now we thing the Poly is too dark. Funny thing is that a lot of people think GF is too stuffy for kids but mine don't want to stay anywhere else. THe youngest one was only 2 when we first stayed at GF and even he doesn't want to go anywhere else! Enjoy.

Just got back from eight days at the GF. Room 4404 in the main building overlooks the marina centered on the castle for a wonderful view (the Sugarloaf blocks the view docks and Space Mountain focusing the view on the castle). My only real complaint was several fire ant stings on my feet obtained on the monorail side of the the noisy pool (itched like crazy and formed boils). A playground for the three-year-old would have been nice. Without it, he got his energy release running up and down the hall. Ducks like the large pool and don't necessarily get out to use the facilities but hey, fish don't get out of the ocean either.

For a real treat, get up before sunrise and wonder around the resort, watching it come to life.

We saw several weddings with the carriage being used several times. The big staircase seems to be a big photo op for brides on their way to the wedding. The day we left, there were five weddings scheduled at the wedding chapel.

Kids loved the Pirate Cruise.

We watched the fireworks from our balconey most nights we were there. The chairs in front of the Marina and the ferry landing seem to be the popular places to watch fireworks from when your room has no direct MK view.

BTW, about the third morning we were there, I noticed some pretty heavy security with an armed guard in fatigues and an automatic weapon outside the Summerhouse. It seems John Kerry had spent the night and the staircase side of the main building grounds was closed while he apparently departed. I didn't see him myself as I was in the large pool with the kids. I checked the news and indeed he started his day in FL before moving onto Ohio.

I have always had a soft spot for the GF. It was where we stayed on our first WDW trip (1994). I also had a lagoon view booked but didn't know you could request castle view. We ended up facing the Polynesian, they were just excavating for the wedding pavillion (Big Pine Key). Still loved it. Took my niece there in 1999, we had a garden view booked and got a nice view of the marina, part of the lagoon and the monorail (Conch Key I think). I like to stop there once each trip, just to look around.

I was there last March (2004) for the first time. I LOVED the orchestra playing in the lobby, GF Tea, our room overlooking the lagoon, coffee in the lobby of Conch Key...actually EVERYTHING about GF thrilled me BUT the price. Thought Citrico's was fair but it may have been what I ordered. Also...loved taking the boat from MK to the resort and walking the short way to our room. ENJOY!!
