By the way, when exactly in Feb. is Mardi Gras? I will be there at the end of Feb. for work related trip.
I think it's Feb 27th this year. My calendar doesn't show Mardi Gras, but it shows Feb 28th as Ash Wednesday, and I'm about 98% sure that Mardi Gras is the day before that. So, if you're there any time before that, you'll be able to catch some parades. Yeah, Feb is a little early. I think it was in March last year, and it just happened to be not too cold.
I'd say it's a better experience than Disney, even more so now that Disney has been making rides on the cheap (Journey Into Your Imagination? Primeval Whirl?).
Hey, I LOVE Primeval Whirl!!! And I think Dinoland is pretty cute. The Six Flags that I last visited (Dallas) was pretty lame, but not as bad as Busch Gardens. I still can't believe Six Flags parks are trying to call themselves theme parks. Get over yourself, Six Flags; you're an amusement park! Barry, have you been to the Six Flags in New Orleans? I hear it's severely lame.
Some people may hate me for saying this, but I've never believed in a low-carb diet. Carbs are supposed to give you energy, so more carbs would seem the better approach.
Sorry, Barry, but that makes no sense. It's the excess energy that is stored as fat. Fat also gives you energy, more than twice the energy per unit than carbs, as a matter of fact. If you're thinking "gives you energy" in the intangible meaning of "energy" that means "yeah! i'm full of energy!," that's not what is meant by "carbs give you energy." It means a measurable form of chemical energy, like the gas in your car. It means calories. Eating too many carbs actually has a fatiguing effect on most people. I'm not really up to snuff on the whole Atkins philosophy, but it's actually based in biochemistry and physiology. I do believe a big part of it has to do with carbs' effects on insulin regulation. So, it's much more complex that "carbs give you energy." Some day I will read that book that I've had for years; then I will be able to tell you more. Yeah right.
Red light foods! That's what we called them years ago when I went to Weight Watchers. There are just some things we can't deal with, so don't have any in the house.
I know most people don't do well on diets where they deny themselves the "yummy" things, but that's what I did when I was thin. And I did it for years and years and years. And you know what... I didn't crave those things or really even miss them. You actually start to prefer lighter foods, and the fatty ones aren't as appealing. Deciding to not be so anal about dieting was my downfall. I should have never even started eating that stuff. Now I can't stop!!!! I used to live on salads, and now I can hardly stand to eat one. Sigh. Well, I don't crave bad foods as much when I'm exercising, either, so hopefully it will be easier once I start hitting the gym.

I need a skinny, healthy friend as a role model!
And hey... PW... you aren't destined to gain that weight back. Sometimes you need some rapid weight loss to give you the confidence to continue. As long as you don't over-starve yourself and don't expect to continue to lose at that rate, you can do it!
Wasn't this thread about single people or something?

I have no dates lined up. BUT you know what I just remembered? I had a dream about the red-headed Disney guy!

That is weird. I didn't even talk to him.
