Back in 06 DH and DS had the time of their lives at HHN staying onsite. Myself and DD LOVED the rides - bar none over Disney. In the last few weeks (due to stay at home flu and nothing else to do) persuaded DH to upgrade from POR to AKL which is a huge upgrade in cost, and will limit what we can do outside of Disney. I've already called Loews to find out if HRH would fiscally work for us (too expensive - sadly due to free dining at WDW). I've looked into some options but would sure appreciate the feedback of the Universal pros out there :grouphug: We are looking at two days, two park (anything less would be a sin).

Thanks to everyone as always for their great help and advice :flower3:

A 7-day 2 park pass is $99 that would be less than a 2 day 2 park pass plus it gives you more time if you can get away from WDW, even for just a few hours.

Honestly, to be fair, it's not the passes, think I can ALMOST justify that, more the transporation?
You can reserve Mears 24 hours in advance to take you from your Disney hotel to Universal and back. The round trip fare is $18.00 per person. Lots of people on these boards have done this.

i see you will be in the land of sunshine at christmas time.

hrh isn't the only hotel on site you could check out on prices.
rph can be a lot cheaper if you stay during the week and avoid the weekend.

get a price for a standard, obscured room at rph.
compare it to what the cost would be for 2 days of the epp for 2 peeps.
see if that would work in your budget.
one night of room only might be cheaper than buying epps.

you stay onsite one night and get 2 days of fotl privileges.

this is the chart for the rates for 09.
http://www.universalorlando.com/Hot...es.aspx?ComponentId=7794&SourcePageId=10978#5

if you go up to dec 17th, it is still value season.
the week after is regular rates.
if you have AAA, the discounts are there.

do mears for $18 per person round trip.
$36 total for transportation then from the motherland to the darkside.

if staying on site for one night breaks the bank, then use mears for 2 separate days for your transportation which would set you back $72.

it would be cheaper then for you to buy the promo tickets of 7 days for $99 for each of you.

Ah... yes the land of sunshine, we will be sun tanning while the rest of Calgary snow tans. Actually Calgary has one of the highest, if not the highest amount of days of sunshine in Canada, and not much precipitation - we are semi arid.

Anyway, off topic with the social studies lesson...

Thanks for the advice - hotel isn't going to work as we would have to stay end of trip as we have to check in at WDW before the 17th to get free dining. Of course that is when it is more expensive, and due to crowds need to be staying onsite.

Looks like it would cost about $600 for passes and transport on Mears for the four of us for two days.

After having initial interest from DH last night, telling me to look into prices - freaked out when he saw the disney charge on the credit card bill. So... I'll have to let him sit on this one for a bit and tackle it in a few weeks - I'll be back to update :wizard:
