hi :) we are going for 5 days in august... and here is my plan

monday-epcott
tue-mk
wed-universal
thur-ak & mgm
friday-????

my dh does not think that we have time for animal kingdom. from the time he brought up us going on this trip, he has said that he does not want to go. i REALLY want to go!!! i planed us going to the 2 parks on thursday hoping that he would fall in love with ak (which i hope he will, he loves animals and such)

well, tonight i brought up the "schedule" and he keeps on saying we will NOT be going to ak....

does anyone have any advice? all help is appreciated. thanks!

I take it from your user name that you are using the 5 day military passes for WDW. Last year, we took advantage of this deal, using 7 days, and it wasn't nearly long enough for us, with our two small children. We are going again this year, and with only 5 days in the parks, our schedule is jam packed.
Why doesn't your dh want to go to AK? Do you have any children or is it just the two of you? This was my kids' favorite park. Even without children, the safari, ITTBAB, Dinosaur, and the Lion King show are worth seeing.

AK is the only park that can be done in less than a day. The other 3 WDW parks require at least 2 days each if you want to see the majority of them, especially Epcot & MK. My advice would be to keep your Mon & Tues as is, move mgm to Wed (a half day isn't even close to what you need), then AK on Thursday am. Then based on what you've seen, pick the parks you want to go back to Thur PM & Fri. Personally, I'd skip Universal this trip. They have two parks and each requires a full day.

If nothing else, make sure you see Illuminations at Epcot & Fantasmic at MGM. They are two incredible shows!!!!

hi :) yes we are...

i just asked him- and he told me that he doesnt know why he doesnt want to go- personally i just think he is being stubborn!! lol

no, it is just the two of us (no children yet). hopefully i can convince him somehow....

I completely agree with zcomic. And I was really wary about AK, I didn't think I would like it, I've been to disney 30 or so times, but all were about 7 years ago, before it was open. I just went back again in March (and May) and saw AK for the first time. I LOVE this park! It has such amazing stuff!! I'm sure if he's an animal lover he'll be converted as soon as he arrives!! It's an awesome place.

This past trip in June we only had 5 park days to spend at WDW because we had to come home for 2 weddings.

We did AK, MGM, Epcot & MK.

We did AK this year because we didn't do it in 2002. We spent an entire day at AK. When we go back next year AK will not be on my "to do" list. Every other year is fine for that.

Personally, if you haven't seen AK in awhile you should at least spend 1/2 day there.

I really thought our 5 days of parks went by very quickly. I didn't feel I had enough time to do and see everything I wanted to because of the shorter vacation and because when we went the crowds were pretty big.

Monday is Early Entry day at AK, so you could go early if you're staying on site. It gets very hot at AK. There isn't as much shade as the other parks. If you aren't staying on site, try doing the parks the day after they have EE. They are less crowded.

AK can definitely be done in a half day. I would recommend a whole day or more for MGM. There's a lot of indoor attractions, so it helps with the heat and it's a fun place to be at night. Since you don't have kids, you might want to do a 1/2 day at MK or one morning and one evening there. It gets really crowded in the afternoon. We liked going to one park in the morning and another in the late afternoon or evening, but that might depend on where you are staying.

hi we are staying at the courtyard marriot at dtd...

is friday a "bad" day for ak? maybe we can spend the whold day thur at mgm & then go to ak on friday....

we are going to mk on tue b/c i already have ps's there & i have ps's for epcot on mon & mgm on thur...

my dh REALLY wants to go to universal- he LOVES spiderman- just to ride that alone will be worth it to him.

Just my 2 cents... You are going to have an awesome 5 days no matter what parks you do on whichever days!!! You will be at WDW!!!! Pick out you must do's, plan the evening shows, a few PS's at places you want to try, add some pixie dust and shake well.... If my son was tall enough for the spiderman ride we'd be planning a day at Universal, too. I hear it's great fun!!! Remember, it's your husband's vacation, too. If he'll do 1/2 a day at AK on thurs, if he likes it, stay for the whole day. If not, hop over to MGM. I wouldn't try to do everything. Don't worry, you'll be back....Have a Magical trip!!!!

Monday at Epcot, Tuesday at MK, Thursday at MGM, and Friday at AK sounds like a great plan. I don't know if you have any breakfast PS's, but we had one at AK and were able to go into the park early because of that. I assume anyone can do that on non-EE days, but you should ask.:smooth:

I hear great things about the Marriot and especially DTD. It's supposed to be a great place without kids. Have fun!

I would skip Universal this trip. I hope you got the $20 rate at the Courtyard! Such a steal for this property! Anyway, if the Courtyard does not participate in EMH, avoid AK on Mon and Fri.

Here is the EMH schedule:

Mon and Fri- AK
Tues and Sat- MGM
Wed- Epcot
Sun and Thurs-MK

AK is so much fun!!!! Wear a bathing suit bottom under your shorts and bring a pair of dry undies to change into (for Kali). The rides at AK are a blast and the shows are awesome!

Here's what we did on our first trip in 2000, staying off-site.

Day 1: Arrival, dinner at the California Grille and MK afterwards
Day 2: MGM, back to hotel, nap, back to MGM for Fantasmic
Day 3: MK and Universal Studios
Day 4: Epcot and DTD in the evening
Day 5: Universal IOA, Kennedy Space Center
Day 6: Leave, needing another vacation :)

The trip was PACKED and we were pretty exhausted by the end of it, but it was great and we saw everything except the AK.

Forgot to mention, this was in August too!

You could split up for part of the day and see the AK. Send hubby to do his favorites and meet up later!

I am with Tammy. If you really want to go and really doesn't then divide and conquer. Just because you are on your honeymoon does not mean you are tied together. Personally when my boyfriend and I vacation together we do better if we take short breaks from each other.

Personally AK is one of my two favs (Epcot is the other) I can easily skip MK and do on lots of trips. SO... it takes all kinds.
