Okay . . . I'm "one of them."

I am very happy to have bought into DVC, but I definitely will miss POR. If they had DVC there, I would buy it in a snap. There is something about that place - the layout, the relaxed feel - that I love. We stayed at the Wildnerness Lodge and Polynesian also in recent years, but for whatever reason we prefer the "moderate" POR to the more expensive ones.

We liked the separate buildings layout of POR so much that it fostered an immediate attraction to SSR. I know some people don't like the separate buildings or the walks that they entail, but for us, that is the best part.

We've pool hopped to POR with our DGC, and we like to eat breakfast at Boatwrights and those have been fine experiences.

As far as the values, I prefer Pop, although more often than not, within a week or so of booking a room at Pop or another value, usually for 1-2 weekend nights, I change the nights to something DVC. Since our DVC ownership ('03), I've probably booked a total of 15 value nights, and have actually stayed there for 4 of them. Not one of those 4 nights has been terrible, but I do prefer DVC.

My December 7th stay at Pop was wonderful. Initially, it was for 2 nights, but I was able to book AKV value studio for the second one. Got my Pop room at 11:30! The TIW card is good at the food court, and I had and enjoyed the salmon dinner...it reminded me of the ones we enjoyed at Tusker House in AK before it changed to a buffet.

It was an "honorary" niece who made us see the value resorts through the eyes of a child. I look at the icons and appreciate the experience.
