a meeting after work that started at 5:30, but was "just a budget meeting, so it shouldn't last very long at all," around what time would you think would be reasonable for him to come home?

I'm still waiting and it's 8:40 here. He's not answering his phone, either (which is pretty typical when he's in meetings).

I'm getting a little worried.

I work in a private college and also use to work in the city (live in NY).
I can tell you there is no such thing as "just" a budget meeting.
A budget meeting is important no matter when it is scheduled.
Also, when you have "just" a budget meeting, you still need to bring in documents and be prepared for what you are going to discuss.

What are you worried about? His job? If you think he is getting let go, it wouldn't take 3 hours.
Let us know what turns up and good luck with your dh and his job.

I live in NY - and hearing the word "budget" has me thinking......months..:headache: We're famous for our "hanging in limbo" state budgets..

Seriously though - budgets can be a topic that drags on forever.. Has he had these budget meetings before? And if so, do you remember how long they lasted?

I'm sure he's fine - but I can understand why you would be worried..

Hope he calls or arrives home soon..:goodvibes

No, I'm not worried about him losing his job. This is completely separate. I'm just worried that he was in an accident or something.

Well, DH doesn't do budget meetings, but he has to go to city council meetings and I figure he spends at least as much time outside BSing.... I mean networking... afterwards as he does in the meeting.

Do we have the same husband? ;)

Could they have gone out for drinks afterwards? This is usually the case with my DH, and he always manages to "forget" his phone in the car.

If not, the meeting is probably taking longer than expected.

I wouldn't worry, but I understand where you are coming from!

I thought her dh could possibly be doing the same thing but she is worried he is in an accident. I hope all is ok and he is safe.

Worried that the meeting is not good news or worried that there may have been an accident?

oops, my bad, forgot to refresh before posting.

If he was in an accident, an EMT would have answered the phone.

He just called. Meeting ran longer than he thought.

He's actually been involved in this for over a year, but he was just elected vice-chair, so I guess that's made a difference.

Thank you everyone!

I said a little prayer for him but I always figure "no news is good news". If he was in a car acident you probably would have been informed by now. He probably lost track of time. Kep us posted, though!

I would be worried, too. Sending good thoughts your way that this is not the case.

Do you have a traffic website? We do and we can click on a person's freeway (for example the Northbound 405 between the 10 and the 101) and see if there is a yellow or red square. This would say (motorcycle accident) or (small car accident) or what have you.

I feel your pain, I worry about my DH even if the's not home from the gym when I think he should be, knowing full well his work out varies and so varies in length.
Hope he's home by now, my DH just turned up as I'm typing this, about 40 minutes later than I thought he would be.

Edited to Add: Wow those good thought woork well

Glad your DH is ok!! Tomorrow is the first day of the new fiscal year for many organizations and I know of a lot of budget meetings going on. So glad I didn't have to participate in any!!

Oh, thank you so much. That was very sweet of you.

I completely forgot about that, Barb. I guess this was an important meeting, then.
