Dagny, you sound just like me! When I compare Everest to Mummy, I just roll my eyes and shake my head and try to remember a time when Disney was an innovator. Hubby and I still "wow" on Mummy too. It's one of those things I can ride repetitively without boredom...it works both on the level of a roller coaster (LOVE the airtime) and a dark ride with awesome effects.

I agree with you! Everytime we get off the Mummy, we're clapping and our fellow riders are clapping. I've never heard anyone clap after Expedition Everest. Quite frankly, I felt like WDW just tweaked BTMRR a bit and called it "new."

You know, that is not too far from the truth. When they were building it, I had such high expectations for it. I "looked" awesome! What a let down.

Same here. Watching it go up raised my expectations...then I rode it and it was like "That's it?" The only thing I really, really like is the view from the very peak of the lift hill. That's a pretty pathetic thing to be the best part of a coaster!

But Disney does seem to be doing a lot of "Baffle them with hype and maybe they'll believe it" lately. Look at the new Nemo ride that they hyped to the nth degree. Ooooo, how innovative...Haunted Mansion ride vehicles and lots of LED screens. The hype didn't work on that one, tho'. They made a never-ending queue for thousands, and I've never seen it even remotely full except at the very busiest times.
