Since I personally know those pesky little tag fairies I thought I would enlighten everyone on the fine art of getting tagged and what NOT to do if you want a tag. My public service announcement for January :)

FIRST and most important!! Tag Fairies do not respond well to begging. It drains on their creative tagging powers, causing them to disappear for long periods of time. Not to mention tag fairies can have "bad times of the month" and if they get to overwhelmed with begging you might find a tag that you don't like!!

SECOND - Tag Fairies are creative little buggers who want to SURPRISE people with new tags. If their creativity is stiffled, they run and hide. It has nothing to do with how many posts you have, where you post, or who you know. If the tag fairy sees something you said that tickles him/her - they might just tag you with it when you least expect it!

THIRD - a tag is just done in fun. It has nothing to do with your social worth on this board. Don't take it personally if you don't have one. Word is out that the tag fairies aren't paid well at all and have had to take second jobs to support the rising cost of fairy dust. I hear one of them is working the graveyard shift at the 7-11. And another one is moonlighting as the good luck charm for the Virginia Lottery. There are even rumors that one can be seen filling in every now and then for the tooth fairy. The fairies are tired folks.. let them work at their own pace!

FOURTH - You guys do know that you can write your own tag if you have something special you want it to say... right? It will be in black ink but you can control it and change it as you wish. Who knows.. maybe when you least expect it, the fairy will sprinkle a little color on it!

FIFTH - Tag Fairies are tempermental! Don't try their patience or with one flick of their wand ALL the tags will go away!

So what I am trying to get at here is that begging and clapping for tags and virtual bribes won't work (although if you have their home address and it's Godiva chocolate.....). Pouting won't work. Feeling sorry for yourself won't work. Just sit back, post away, enjoy the DIS and when you least expect it....

POOF! You've been tagged!

Thank you for listening - and yes, popdaddy.... long post

Lauri,
Well - can I start begging for an Alaskan Cruise or a new BMW or college tuition for my two teens????;)

Seriously - GREAT post! I will even curtsy to you!!princess:

WOW Lauri,

I think I've broken everyone of these rules in the begining. Gee TF's I'm sorry! These rules should have a permanent home at the top of each board!

Thanks for setting us all on the right path!
:teeth: Lisa

Who tagged you the Tag Fairy Spokesperson?

(just kidding....don't hit me with your wand....)

Important saftey tips! Thanks MeanLaureen!;)

Look out everyone, she's living up to her "Mean" handle.

Seriously, I was guilty of a bit of begging but have seen the error of my ways.

I forthwith and hereby swear on a pile of ultra premium Godiva chocolates I shall never to the best of my ability ever pester the high and exhalted Tag Fairy (ies) again.

I am a reformed sinner. I'm working on a 12 step program in case I backslide.

Thanks, Lauri. So I guess they don't respond well to clapping like I was formerly advised! :duck:

I think the most fun part about being tagged is that you never know when the TF is going to bestow some color or what the tag will say...the surprise factor is what makes a tag really special.

I know I'd rather have a tag bestowed when the TF is in a <i>good</i> mood. :teeth:

Uh oh... I guess I've been doing all the wrong things! :p

Does this mean I'll never get a tag?

Guess I'll just have to be patient and wait and see....

Ahhhh come on now....I think that 'little devils' is a much better term of endearment than 'little buggers'.:scratchin

MeanLaureen, I know that some or all of the TAG FAIRYs don't really like begging, but if the offers of virtual chocolate wrapped in large bills are not enough, what are we of the TAGLIARCHY to do? we clap for others (generally).

If we offend them, please ask them to let us know how to mend our ways.....

:bounce:

Thanks MeanLaureen! :D or Perhaps we should call you Jorgen Von Strangle!

I bet the tag fairies like to watch the fairly odd parents.

Great post! Thank you!

I agree with the others that getting a tag as a surprise is much nicer than begging for one.

Thank you Lauri and the hard working tag faries!

I just wanted to use this tag fairy infested thread to personally thank the tag fairies for my new tag..... very cute. It made me smile....

And, I agree, those little tags that pop up unannounced when you're least expecting it are the best........ kind of like a present on one of your un-birthdays. There's just nothing like an unsolicited tag.

Now..... that being said, I'd like to offer a little feedback on a particular tag: MAC3's 2nd tag is just a little hard for me to stomach, so if you wouldn't mind removing the repulsive "T" word, I'd greatly appreciate it. ::yes:: :p :p :p
Hey MAC  .... don't you think Shells and........ummmmm...... oh, I don't know.............. cheese hotdish would be just as yummy?? ::yes:: ::yes::

Excellent post! Nicely stated.

Clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap

;)

I don't see anything in there about saying 'Simba is handsome' won't work.

Simba is still handsome. :p :teeth:
