That I really don't care what you do behind closed doors (though I do think smoking pot is stupid regardless). I care that she is doing it on her front porch while she has a $100 million dollar movie out and a ton of young girls are looking up to her. THAT is what I had a problem with. It is completely irresponsible. It's not like she was in her fenced in back yard and the photographers snuck around to get the picture, she was on her front porch smoking a joint where the whole world could see. It's like she didn't even think that she would be seen or even care.

Did anyone even take the time to read my post? Not to sound really mean or anything, but this thread dug up a few hurtful feelings about my uncle, and it'd be a shame to have brought them up for absolutely nothing.

Shelly I read it and I am so sorry that you and your family have had to go through that. You make such good points. Not everyone has the addictive personality and become addicted to ANY drug(even Pot), but some people do and no matter if it is herion or pot and it affects peoples lives like losing money, and affecting relationships than it does have an affect on people.

If marijuana was REALLY all that bad then it would never be considered for use in the medical work nor would it be decriminalized and legal in other countries.. You don't see doctors prescribing meth, do you? Or "coffee houses" that sell heroin.

Prostitution is legal in other countries. It's also legal in Vegas. If it wasn't so bad why wouldn't they have it legal everywhere. It's the worlds oldest occupation, it has to be safe after people doing it for soo long.

I really don't care what other countries do or legalize. If you want to smoke pot legally out on your front porch go to a country where it is legal.

But being that much of a ***** doesn't make you a very well respected person. If she wants to be that way, fine. I just didn't see that as a very smart pawn to move.

I'd like to share a little story with you all about my experience with drugs.

My uncle has been a smoker all his life. I'm pretty sure some of you will remember my one thread concerning him and his drug addictions? Well, they've gotten worse. Back when I was seven, my uncle promised me - pinky promised me - that he would quit smoking. Now I'm fourteen, and he's still a heavy smoker. My grandfather sells Christmas trees in the season to earn money. But lately, however, he hasn't been getting very good business. He's taking money out of his morgage (sp?) to pay the people who work for him (my uncle, my mom, etc.). Well, my uncle took the money he got from his pay and spent it all on drugs. Now he's expecting more money from my grandfather, but my grandfather is trying to kindly explain that he doesn't have a lot of money to give. So he makes up an excuse and says that his daughter, Alyssa (5), is sick and he needs money for her medicine. But my grandfather said that he would simply pick up medicine for her later. When he called my uncle to ask what medicine she needed, he said nevermind. He was using it as an excuse to get money for more drugs. He treats my cousins and his own wife bad (not abusal, but he did break a door or two in his day), he screams at everyone for the stupidest things, and he is just not the same. He's losing his house because the money he should be using to pay his house is going to drugs. And now, I found out he's stealing Christmas trees to get even more money for drugs.

So please, before you tell me what can and can't ruin a person's life, think about a person and what they may be battling themselves. Cause pot sure as hell can ruin a person's life. And not just one person too.

Any substance can harm you. My paternal grandpa died of a bad liver from being an alcoholic. My dad has cirrhosis from drinking. It's too bad they just didn't know how to stop and it ultimately affected their health.

No, Cory, I never said that. I was referring to Shelby when she said something along the lines of "Have you ever done anything bad? You probably have". I thought she would be thinking I did something along those lines, and I didn't so I put it in there.

No one has understood my opinion on this entire thread. I've repeated it several times but people still don't get it.

It infuriates me that people think they can do marijuana, drink alcohol, or worse and NOT be affected by it. You NEVER think you're going to get high, drive a car, and hit and kill someone, do you? BUT GUESS WHAT! IT HAPPENS! It infuriates me people think that it can't happen to them. When you think that, you need a reality check pronto.

Society is the way it is. No one can change it, people have tried. The difference between this girl and Paris Hilton, this girl was in a movie geared to young adults. Now if they see her smoking a bong, they're going to think it's cool when it's nothing but harming your body.

Thank you for sharing your story, and I'm so sorry you and the people you're close with have to go through this. It's not easy at all, and you're definitely right about it not just affecting one person, but everyone that's around that person.
