She also signed up to do Twilight. She knew its target was teenage girls. If she didn't want people looking up to her she shouldn't have done that. You sign up to be in that kind of position, you sign up to be a role model. It's just the way it is.

You're right, it is her life. If she makes stupid choices she has to deal with the consequences. She doesn't deserve to be in a movie series as big as Twilight if she is going to be so dumb as to smoke in public.

Just because "a lot" of people smoke weed doesn't mean it's not a big deal.

I could really care less about the personal life of celebrities.
If it were my one of my friends, sure, I'd smack some sense into them because I care about them and their health. I'm not one of those people that are like "that's cool for you, but not for me" (but I'm not saying that what Kristen is doing is good, I can't stop her, and I'm not her friend) that'd make me a relativist, which is not me. Most of the time I just don't have enough of a backbone to voice my opinions on things I believe are morally wrong.

She did it in public. I don't care what you do in private. But when you do something that looks VERY MUCH like weed in PUBLIC, then you are making foolish choices because you have 13 year old girls who might think that's "cool."

You have to start drugs somewhere. Seriously, she looks really wasted in most pictures I've seen of her. Who knows if she does something else.

I just think it's sad that we as a society support someone who is now an idol of some sort for many young fans who smokes a joint in public.

At least have the decency (and smarts) to do it in the privacy of your own home. At least then you'll just look wasted.

FWIW, I've never seen a photograph of any of the stars who smoke pot in which they look high. Public image is important to them in regard to doing drugs and unless they had never said anything, I wouldn't have thought they smoked it because they don't look like they are 24/7 like Kristen.

Hollywood and drugs obviously go hand in hand, that's why so many are going to rehab. It's a sad reality. That doesn't make it right or OK.

It's not like it's any worse than what miley cyrus or vanessa hudgens did.
It's no worse than the CW showing high school students getting into hot night clubs and drinking cosmos in Gossip Girl.
It's no worse than half of the teen idols today showing up in revealing clothing.

Noooot really. I've done a LOT of stupid stuff in my life that I'm not proud of, but it didn't really effect me (besides shape me into who I am) in the long run. I remember being 15 and waking up in a bush with no shirt on after some really hard partying. I remember telling myself when I walked back to my friend's house that that was the last time I'd party like that, and it shaped me into being a better person now. I've smoked weed, and my IQ hasn't changed for the worse, nor has any horrible psychological happenstance happened to me. People just have to learn from their own mistakes, and we have to let people grow up themselves. I don't care if they're in the spotlight or not; they're just human beings. She's an 18 year old girl who, just like most 18 year olds, is trying to figure out who she is beyond the glitz and the glamour. Everyone has a bump or two on the road to their self revelation. Nobody is perfect, and we have no right to bash anyone for following a different route to find out who they are than we would take.

Actors only getting paid 2 million dollars a movie to be in a MTV-generated movie aren't going to go heavily into preparation and research. Both of the lead stars in Twilight hadn't even heard of the books when landing the roles.
