I know one time is all it takes. But people get curious. You can't stop that.

And you know what? Tons of people who tried drugs, do have wonderful and successful lives now. I'm not condoning drugs, but it's really close-minded to think that just because you may try drugs means your life sucks or became awful.

Actually, I know quite a few. Tons of people look up to celebrities. If a celebrity is dumb enough to do drugs/drink/etc. in public where pictures may be taken, then so be it. It's their life, not yours.

Nobody is condoning pot. She did pot, BIG DEAL. Kids are smart. If a kid does drugs because their favourite celebrity is doing it, then they probably werent smart. Most kids know the difference between wrong and right.

Let me start by saying I do not do drugs/drink any of it. I do not condone it. I do not like it. I find much better ways to have fun and stay healthy .

I do have to say my parents were born in '62 and '63. My mom smoked weed when she was 13, my dad started smoking cigerettes when he was 12. The drinking age at that time was 18. They drank when they were 16/17. They probably did some other drugs, that they have not shared with me, but that is there business. They went to college. Joined sorority/fraternity. Had tons of fun. GREW UP. had a family. No problem finding jobs. Are two amazing people.

They did not screw up there lives. They did not become failures. They simply made a few bad choices along the way. Idk it just really rubbed me the wrong way when you said people who do drugs, even once, will become failures. :/

I also want to add, what she did was not good. Yes the world is watching her, but in the end, its still her life. I can name probably 10 people in my school that have access to drugs, ask basically any teenage and they will somehow have access to alcohal. It is just what happens. & I don't see it as that big of a deal. People live the way they want to. I choose to live my life healthy, others don't find that necessary. Its all a matter of opinion I guess.

My mom was born in 1954. She never did drugs, never smoked, has never been drunk. For every person that is "ok" after smoking once there are others who become addicted. People wonder why the drug problem in this country is so bad. It's not hard to find out why if you look at this thread. At least half of the people on this thread think it's OK to do something illegal that is harmful. Just because a lot of people do something doesn't make it any more smart. Just because your parents turned out ok doesn't mean that everyone else will. I don't get how you can justify smoking pot in public, it's just a stupid thing to do when you have young people looking up to you.

To be clear, Marijuana is NOT chemically addicting. There is no case of ANYONE becoming chemically dependent off of Marijuana.

While I'm sure the majority of the people on this teen board haven't smoked weed, the examples you gave as "harmful" conditions are in most cases completely off. Nobody takes joy rides while stoned. People sleep and eat while stoned. The only place they're going in a car is to McDonald's, and they're going wayyyy under the speed limit. One joint probably won't even GET you stoned.

If kids are so easily manipulated by one semi-famous person smoking weed, then we've got a lot more important things to worry about the coming future besides all of them being stoners.

WOW. I never saw anyone talking down on your parents. Your parents are an example of many who haven't become addicted while there are many who HAVE become addicted to drugs.
