Okay- don't laugh.. any advice for balding man besides expensive plugs?

I don't care what type of head you have, a shaved head is better than a head of weird scars from plugs, better than a head of long wisps that are desparately trying to cover bald patches, and certainly better than exposing yourself to a life time of fighting a losing battle by exposing yourself to all sorts of pharmaceutics that God only knows what the long term side-effects are.

I think it is manly to just not fight it and beat it at it own game and say "yeah, I'm bald, what of it?" rather than be all vain and desparate and spending way too much time and money on products and procedures trying to look like you did when you were young.

The beauty of it, is it is the style now anyway.

I have to agree with everyone. Bald is SEXY!!!

My hubby looks exactly like Bruce Willis and looks amazing with his bald head and goatee.

I'd heard this too. But if you think about Prince William and Prince Harry....William is going bald the same way Charles did. Diana had fabulous hair, and so did her brother. Prince Harry has hair like Diana's (so far). So maybe you get some balding genes from both parents?

I've heard it comes from the mother's father. No clue if that's true.

My 2 favorite men when I was growing up were my bald uncle and my bald stepfather. I loved to kiss them on their bald heads.

NO, it is passed to all children by the mother - which means a father couldn't pass it to a daughter, then the daughter to a son.

It is passed on the maternal side, but a female does not have male hairloss, so the guide to see you future is to look at your mothers brothers who would have received their male pattern baldness gene from the same mother as your mother.
If your mother doesn't have brothers, then you go back and look at her mothers brothers.

All four of my brothers are losing their hair the same way my mothers brother did, at the temples and pushing back from the front. My dad has the "horse shoe look" which started at the crown and kept growing. His mother's brothers have the same look.

Ok- had to laugh. I use google mail which matches ad content to words in your emails. Just popped up an ad for 'Bald Head Island.'
