okay, am I just plain dumb or am I doing something wrong..

I just can't seem to use my printer to print on vellum or cardstock without it getting all jammed up. I have one of those hewlett Packard memory card reader printers. The paper is either too thick (card stock) or too thin (vellum) I don't get it. Am I doing something wrong? Is there a better printer that reads cards, prints gorgeous photos and journaling on these papers?

I use two different printers. My HP photo printer is for photos only. My HP desk jet is for everything else and I haven't had a problem with it printing on both cardstock and vellum.

I haven't had a problem printing on cardstock on my HP either but I do know it grabs it easier if I feed one sheet at a time.

Hmmm...thanks for the quick replies. I do have another printer, so maybe I'll try using both, one for the photos and one for the journaling..Just one more question though, when printing on cardstock, do you just cust down the 12 X 12 or do you use 8 1/2 X 11?

You may also want to check your printer settings. In teh print menu, some have settings fro card stock. Don't remember seeing vellum.

I don't buy 8.5x11, so I just cut my 12x12 down... and then use scraps if I have any (using hermafix dots, i attach it to regular printer paper and feed it through).

when you hit print setup from the drop down menu not the little printer button. A little button saying properties comes up. Click on it and there will be an opening page that allows you to select photo paper etc, good better best printing type options...etc. Choose something like a greeting card type of paper for your card stock and maybe a thinner sounding paper for your vellum. Then hit ok. This should revert back to the normal settings once you finish the print your doing.

Another option for vellum is to cut it to 8 1/2 by 11 and attach it to one sheet of regular printer paper using a little bit of adhesive where you will not be needing the paper. Run it through that way. You should not have a problem. We run the tops of a picture mat through that way to add wording to someones framed project at work. We peel off the top paper of a mat, attach it to printer paper and run it through the printer. Vellum should be a breeze.

I have a HP 1000 and I use the greeting card (not glossy) for cardstock and I do one at a time. For the vellum I use the transparency setting and again I do one at a time. Every once in a while I get a jam up but most of the time it works well.

How about a little pixie dust for yours?
