Okay..am are we really going to hate Hollywood and Vine?

We do not like it. The food just was not good. We loved the character interaction at the lunch though. We thought about going back for breakfast for the character aspect.

Please... do not go here..We went 2 times and the last time the food was inedible..

The food was okay compared to the rest of the week but this was our only buffet. With my experience ANYWHERE not just Disney with buffets aren't great. BUT the simplicity of the fantasmic package was amazing. Just walking up and showing your tickets and sitting down where you wern't consumed by a crowd was the best. The food wasn't great but we left full. I mostly ate off of the kids meal part (bbq meatballs, mac and cheese, chicken nuggets) our waitress was pretty horrible but, not a reason for me not to go back. Sorry if I'm rambling but my opinion is if I were you I'd try it just because of the fantasmic package.

I hear so many bad things about it for dinner. I am going to try it for breakfast . Does anybody like there breakfast? Is it in the same order as CM & CP ?

We kind of like the breakfast better at HV than at CM. HV had some nice fruit toppings for the waffles and I think the other places just had syrup.
It remains on our list of places we need to go each time esp. since we have young kids!

To the OP- your 4 yr old will love it!

We've been there twice and have been happy both times. I wouldn't say it's the best food at Disney, but it's a relatively well-diverse buffet that works for us. And we'll be going there this trip for breakfast because that's where the Playhouse Disney character breakfast is (with Leo and June from Little Einsteins) and that's DS's ALL TIME FAVORITE TV program. It's the only meal we have ressies for that he hasn't been informed about, just so we can see his face when he sees Leo and June.

But, in answer to your question, I wouldn't recommend this as a great restaurant, but I have no problems going there or telling people to go with an open mind. Just expect a decent buffet and you'll probably be happy.

We went to H & V twice and we like it both times. We actually prefer H & V than 1900 park fair from our last trip.

In Feb 2008 we were on the Dining Plan for 7 days, including 5 character meals.

At Hollywood & Vine we had the first seating for lunch, and the breakfast buffet was still up so we got some of the breakfast food and some of the lunch food. In my assessment the service was the worst we had in any of 7Disney Table Service restaurants, which was still better than the average service we get in our hometown. The food was tasty enough to satisfy me and I got enough to hold me through to dinner 8 hours later.

We will not return on our next trip, but that is mainly because we want to try some new things that we didn't do last time.

In summary... as WDW buffets go H&V is probably a little below average, but if you really want the Fantasmic package you can probably endure it.

We also booked at H&V for the FP. I really wanted Brown Derby, but mom didn't see anything she liked on their menu, and Melrose, dad couldn't see paying that much for Italian. :confused3 So Hollywood it is. My husband is a die-hard buffet hater, mostly because he grew up enduring golden corral and its ilk. I keep telling him though, that a resort/WDW buffet is a lot different! Hope it holds true for H&V!

My view is, I'm in WDW for a limited time. I can put up with 1 so-so meal in order to save myself 2 hours of waiting around for a show, even if it's a show awesome enough to warrant the wait. As long as H&V is toleravle enough to give us fuel to make it through the rest of the evening until we get back to our resort, I'll be happy.

I'll be saving my high expectations for Jiko, Boma, Biergarten, Sci-fi, etc! :cool1: Oh man, it's getting closer and closer and I can't wait!

We ate at H&V for the Fantasmic package during President's Week in 2008. First time we'd bothered with the package in ages. We are not Brown Derby fans and think MM is kind of in between Pizza Hut and Olive Garden - not bad but not something we'd go out of our way for. We found Hollywood & Vine to be a good buffett. Kind of "normal" food - nothing fancy but decent. Our server was attentive and drinks were refilled promptly and used plates cleared. We would definitely pick it over MM for the Fantasmic package.
