...care to help me out with a few suggestions? My DS 11 is participating in a weight management clinic at our local Children's Hospital and I am happy to report that he is doing GREAT! Here is where you may be able to hep. Easter is approaching and for most kids that means TOO MUCH CANDY! I do not want to sabotage DS's efforts by giving a basket full of candy. What are your ideas for a great basket that does not feature fat and calories? Thanks for any help you may provide.

One thing I think would be cute is the packages of baby carrots and ranch dressing that are snack sized that could be carried to school...That's what rabbits eat, so it's appropriate...That's all I have for now, but HTH!

I would talk to the staff and ask them for suggestion. There maybe some safe "treats" he can have. Also talk to your son. Does he still believe in the bunny? if not then you can be very creative! If he likes music or video games get him one he really wants. If he is loosing weight he will need new clothes. Give him a gift card to one of the really kewl shops you normally wouldn't want him to buy clothes from.
Way to go for your son! that is wonderful you are taking a positive action to help him! So wish my parents did when I was a young teen...I now have to battle my weight every day!

How about..... new character toothbrush and toothpaste, money (I put change in the plastic eggs instead of candy), DVD or CD, a craft kit such as a model car kit or something similar (Micheal's has lots), books or magazines, new t-shirt, gift card for lessons to learn something new (rock climbing at the YMCA comes to mind). That is all I have for now................P

what are his interests?
could you do a SPRING Sports theme basket -
activiteis that help get him moving and are fun like whiffle ball etc.

How about plastic eggs with a dollar in each one. And do not forget the confettii(sp) eggs. Some type of bubble toy and a bottle of bubbles is great. Hope this helps.

Sugar free gum.... and I like the money in the eggs idea.... how about baseball cards or movie passes..... or a gift card.

I think all these ideas are great for ALL kids. My kids are skinny as a rail, but I try not to get them much candy for Easter, because they just don't need to eat the junk.

I get my DS 11 packs of his favorite trading cards, maybe a gameboy (or other system) game he has been wanting. For my DD 6, I ususally get her some fun lip gloss and nail polish in spring colors. They both love a new set of markers and little notebooks to write on. The Dollar Tree usually has fun spring pencils and pens (great for school and home). They actually have a lot of cool Easter/Spring things that make a great basket (bubbles, erasers, pencils, hair clips, etc.)

Have fun making those Easter Baskets!!!!
