I want to make a playlist to play on a computer hooked up to speakers (for a party). DH has a Windows based PC laptop. Will he be able to play music from all the download sites (iTunes, Napster etc.) or will he need special software? Can he just download the needed software? I was going to download music onto my USB flashdrive, and when the playlist was ready I'd transfer it over to DH's laptop (or play the music direct from the flashdrive if it will hog too much of his storage space). Is all this possible?
Which site gives the best deal for downloading a large amount of music in a short space of time? From that perspective it looks like Napster wins - unlimited music for a set fee. But, at iTunes you can upload your own CDs and throw them into the playlist too - less you have to download if you already own a fair amount of music on CD. Can Napster do that too? Will iTunes files be able to play on DH's PC, and mix into other files from other sources (like Napster)?
If you were trying to do what I am trying to do, how would you approach it?
Note: I have to download to a PC vs stream from a site like Napster. We only have dial-up at the moment - I was planning to go next door to use my parents' DSL for downloading.
