I was wondering since tomorrow is St. Patrick's Day, how many here are Irish or part Irish?

I'm 50% - my Mom's parents moved here from Ireland. Limerick and Tipperary - I've always loved the sound of these places. :thumbsup2

I am probably around 30-40 percent. Both grandparents on my mothers side are of irish/english descent. My Grandmother's maiden name was Higley, which I think is pretty stinkin irish. I have the irish red hair too if that counts as more!

There is not a bit of Irish on my fathers side though.

I said 50 percent, though we have been hee too many generations for that to really be true!

I'm 50% Irish. Both of my grandmothers are from Ireland. Their maiden names are O'Rourke and Dourghety (I think I spelled that wrong--oops)

My father's side is Irish and he loves the country. He's visited a half dozen times and got his citizenship.

My mom's side is Italian, which I physically favor. However, I drink like an Irishman. :)

My paternal grandparents were born in Ireland. My uncle was also, but my father was born here. My mother was adopted, so I have no idea about her background.

I don’t know how much (if any) actual Irish ancestry I have. I know it’s not a large percentage. However, my married name is very Irish (it starts with O’), so people often ask me what part of Ireland my family is from. I have to explain that I just married the last name. :teeth:

My husband is part Irish, and so is my son, so would that make me an honorary Irish-woman? :confused3

I am truly a mixed breed. I am part Irish, but I am part a lot of other things also. I have the fair skin, freckles, and red hair. Can I just pretend to be Irish?

My father is 100% Polish, my mother is a bit of a mutt. Mom has *some* Irish in her, more than 0, but certainly less than 50%.

My mom swears we have some Irish blood waaaay back in our family tree. I really don't know!

My dad is German-- no Irish blood there.

The great thing about tomorrow is that everybody is Irish!

Well, I definitely have some Irish ancestors - but I'm thinking not quite 50%.
That's what I voted though since there really was not a catagory that fit me and on St. Patrick's Day aren't we all just a bit more Irish than usual?

Besides I HAVE been to Ireland and I even kissed the Blarney stone - that's gotta count for something!
:thumbsup2

I've got a little English, a little Scot, a bit of German and probably a few others thrown in for good luck. Sadly, no Irish.

100% here. I'm from a long line of Ryan's, Maguires/McGuires, Conroy's, Fitzgeralds (on both sides) and Cahill's. Great Grandparents on both sides were "off the boat".

Not exactly 50% but close. I am 3/8 Irish. My one grandmother was a Casey and my other grandmother was half Irish.

I'm 50% with some from both sides. My paternal grandfather was Irish, last name: O'Sullivan.

Well, I wish there was a choice between 50% and none. :teeth:

I have a bit of Irish in me although I have no idea how much. My family on my mom's side has been here since the 1600's; my dad's family's been here since the early 1700's so I'm a bit of a mutt. German, Irish, English, and Native American mostly.

But, of course, I wear green tomorrow!

My grandmothers parents came over from Ireland. My mom's dad had quite a bit of Irish in him. My grandmothers maiden name was McDermott. And her mothers maiden name was Leahy. My sons middle name is McDermott because my grandmother had a sister and a brother, the brother only had girls so the name would die with him.

My grandparents and mom and aunt went to Ireland last year. My husband and I are headed there in May. My grandmother says there is a town full of McDermotts!
