ok who took all the illumination cruises today

so i have been up since 5:30 am with the sure determination of booking the birthday cruise for my sons birthday on oct 16--got put on hold at 6:59--didn't get a cm till 7:02 and said just as fast as i can"8:00 specialty cruise and he replied faster all booked up---what a let down--i really thought i would be able to do this ....my last hope will be for tomorrow-which i would be thrilled to get even though my heart was set for his birthday..all that i need is faith-trust and a little pixie dust...right???

DON'T GIVE UP!

Remember, there are only 5 rentable boats each night (including Breathless) for IllumiNations, and they book quickly (as you already know). But, "Magic Happens!" I would not give up on one or two trys!

Keep checking back for any cancellations. Call the Bayside Marina direct and ask to be put on a list for any last minute cancellations.

Try calling in the evening too. After reading these posts, I decided to call one night to see if something was available just by chance. I only called a few weeks ago for our upcoming trip. I asked if any Illumination cruises were available during our week. The Breathless was actually available 3 nights. Good luck

I must say that I'm worried now. I'm also after an Illuminations Cruise for Oct 17 (10th Anniversary)

If they can book up in 3 minutes, I have little hope that I'll be able to snag one. I'll let you know what happens this time tomorrow.

thanks for the advice and believe me i plan on calling everyday to see if there are any cancellations because my son has been to disney several times but this is the first time his birthday will actually be during our stay and i really wanted something different and something that would WOW him.

also crazy hakim do you know when i can call the marina to be put on waiting list--do i have to wait to i arrive or can i do it before...also does anyone have the number...thanks

I was able to get an Illuminations Cruise for 9/17 with no problem so keep on checking!

When I booked the FTP I didnt even know what an Illuminations Cruise was. Found the DIS Boards and read about it. I think I called on a whim one day after reading a thread about it and simply asked and got one. Acutally, they had two available during our stay (both due to cancellations). I called at 3pm on a weekday afternoon.

I know Sept. is a downtime at WDW so maybe that makes a difference vs. Oct.

<b>kmc</b> Crazy Hakim is correct. Do not give up trying to get a reservation for an illuminations cruise. There are often cancellations so keep trying.

Jakesmom just snagged a cancellation a week or so ago. I was lucky to get a cancellation for my March, 2000 trip. Just keep trying. Call later in the day, perhaps. Even call on Saturdays. Most importantly, even after you arrive in Orlando, keep calling just to see if they have had a cancellation. I was told by one of the cruise captains that sometimes his boat sits idle because someone cancelled and no one called and asked for that date.

Hang in there and don't give up, you could be lucky enough to catch a cancellation.

Good luck on getting the cruise for your son's birthday. If you are looking for another idea on how to WOW your son you could arrange a special event through Jane at Gifts of a Lifetime. My daughter had also been to WDW many times, but we were actually there on her 13th birthday last year. Jane arranged an awesome surprise scavernger hunt at her favorite park, and based it on her interests. At the time we were really into wathcing The Amazing Race on TV, so Jane called hers "The Amazing Disney Race". Her clues were set up just like the ones on the show with "Road Blocks" and "Deteors". It certainly made the day special!

Our anniversary is also October 17th (5th ann.) I also thought about the Illuminations cruise, but knew it would be difficult and didn't want to chance it so I got us tickets to Cirque du Soleil and then we're going to eat at Rainforest Cafe.

Have you thought about the fireworks cruise out of the GF?

Those are wonderful, too! I don't know how fast those book up now, but I was able to snag one easier than an Illuminations cruise!

mouseketeerwannabe--i actually have been giving serious thought to the gifts of a liftime scavenger hunt if i cant get an illuminations cruise --i just thought the whole atmosphere of the illuminations show and cake and decorations it would really seem like a birthday party and believe it or not i have been going to disney world since the year it opened and have only caught the last part of illuminations(dont ask me why because i dont even know the answer to this question) so i thought this would be a nice treat.

pinnie i think i would enjoy the mk fireworks cruise but i really dont think my son would be as impressed because he has seen them many times but has never seen illuminations..

i am going to keep trying

I tried at around 3pm the 60 day prior time just on the spur of the moment. (I did not want to get up at 4 am to make the reservation on a Saturday, so I decided if I could get it I would change our itenerary). The CM kind of snickered when I asked and sighed and said "I can't believe it, there is a boat!"

{I am a believer in miracles...see, that night I made the reservation for Illuminations Cruise for (which is one of DH favorite things at WDW) was his father's birthday. His father passed away around a week after I made the reservation. The cruise was meant to be to help DH with grieving on his father's birthday!}

Anyway, there is always hope! Keep trying!!!!

Well... I didn't get it. At 6:58 I kept redialing and when the lines opened up hit 5 immediately. That STILL wasn't quick enough!

i actually got the birthday cruise today-i have never been so happy at 7 am on saturday before----i feel like i won the lottery!!!!!!!!!!

but i was actually hoping to come to this board and see that canoelan2 got one of the other boats too...but like everyone on here says--keep trying you never know what can happen--

I'm glad you got it! I have hopes that my 2nd time will be the charm. If I can't get it tomorrow for the 18th, then I'm out of luck for this trip.

If luck isn't on my side (it rarely is) I will try to get a cancellation, but I'm not holding my breath.
