Checkin is Tuesday. First checkin, that is. To OKW. Then BW for a night. Then OKW again. I see "your reservation is no longer available".

Go to dvcmember. The reservations are there. The reservation number is NOT the same. They've...changed them? To more than one reservation number? I now have 3 reservation numbers? (and, it turns out at long last, the original number is NOT on any of my reservations, per dvcmember and the online checkin I just did)

Irony is...I hated the one reservation number and have railed about it since I made the second resort reservation and they put it under the same number as the first. I know that some like it, and I don't want them to get rid of the possibility, but I wanted the CHOICE. But don't stinkin' change it on me with no notice two nights before I'm leaving!

There's not only no notice, but because they've changed, entirely, the one reservation number I had, and when I go to disneyworld.com, I got the message that my reservation is no longer available. (I fainted for a millisecond when I saw that)

I'm going through the process of "retrieving" my reservations on disneyworld.com, with the help of dvcmember.com, and I just got the first OKW reservation to show up, so what I knew was true (that it's all OK) does seem to be true...it's just nice to see it on my screen.

I've just gotten all three reservations to show up under My Reservations on disneyworld.com, which feels really good. And the end result, for me, is great...3 reservation numbers for 3 separate, separate resort and/or room type, reservations makes sense! But you gotta TELL a person that you're doing that, ya know?

So...anyone else with a "split stay" now have 3 reservation numbers where they had only 1 before?

Off to see if I can do online checkin now!

Very likely they might be going through and changing the reservation numbers after they stopped segmented dining and are requiring DP to be purchased for the length of stay. Seemed some CM's were telling people that if it was all under one reservaiton number it all had to have DP regardless of room size or resort changes.

We are changing from blt to bcv after the first night and we still have one res number. I wish we.had two so I could online check in for just the blt. We come in late and would be great to skip the hassle.

Online checkin done for the first part of our trip! Woo!

If you decide to do online check in for the other segments when the 10 day mark arrives, please let us know how it went.

I can't be the only one who is curious, LOL.

TIA

Sorry for the ??, this is our first DVC stay in October, and we are staying at AKV/BCV - are you saying we won't be able to do online checkin at all since we have a split stay under the same reservation number? Thanks!

Some DVC members with a single confirmation number for a split stay have reported that they have been unsuccessful in doing online check in.

In June 2011, we had a three-way split stay under one confirmation number. When we were unsuccessful in doing online check in, we called Member Services for help. The CM acknowledged there was a problem with reservations involving the single confirmation number on split stays.

Although we never succeeded in doing online check in, it didn't create any problems for us. In the future, I'll try to do online check in again. But if it doesn't work it won't bother me.

Your specific experience may vary. Perhaps when its time for your trip the online check in feature may be working just fine.

Good luck!

That was us. We could not do online check in at all for the trip we just completed last month.

I just made my August 2012 reservations and they were all given their own numbers, even though there were overlapping dates and a split stay at the same resort, unlike this year when everything was under just one #.

See, this makes me wonder if what is really going on is that the one travel plan idea was causing way too many problems. Most people who had segmented trips, whether it was because of wait lists being filled, split stays, or the dining plan were being asked to get new keys, had issues, etc.

Even my trip last month was cancelled and rebooked 5 days before we arrived and it had something to do with the resort needing to fix it for us.

I wonder if they are just going to get rid of that and go back to the old way.

I also think this is the case. The one travel plan thing is really only an advantage to the DRC cash guests, who for whatever reason, change resorts or booking categories and buy a package. One travel plan will theoretically, remove the requirement to buy a new set of tickets when the room change is made and shouldn't require any re-keying.

......I wonder if they are just going to get rid of that and go back to the old way.
Again, I agree.

IMO, the most DVC members can realistically hope for is the ability to drop either the first night or last night of their stay. They should be able to do that without too much trouble. The fly in that ointment would be on-line check in, probably not a big deal for most.

I don't see them accommodating members' desire to add or drop guests in the middle of the stay (for dining plan purposes) without making reservations that require a room change. That's how it used to be and IMO, will be again.

All that said, I still think this latest issue is almost totally about the $$. I agree with those who think DVC decided to do this segmenting on their own and that when the executives responsible for the Resorts/Restaurant profitability got wind of it, they shut it down IMMEDIATELY!

Having spent many years in a large, multi-departmental corporation, I strongly suspect some of the MS managers got some negative feedback about their decision making criteria as well as some new lessons in what they could and could not do on their own. Just sayin'.

Curious here too! I've not been able to do online checkin this year because of the new system. I couldn't do it for my Jan/May or August trips this year because there are often linked reservations or more than 1 room reservations. I have a trip in 5 weeks and right now all 3 are under one number.....!

Keep an eye on that. My August trip was adjusted from one number to different numbers 5 days before we arrived. I ended up with holding points I should not have--easily fixed by MS--but it is strange that they needed to do that.

Tks, I will keep an eye on my account.

Thank you for mentioning this.

We arrive in 18 days. We booked late and had to piece the reservation together. Our reservation still shows a single reservation number, but 5 different bookings. (Really it's 1 day BLT, 3 days SSR, 3 days BWV).

The changing in the reservations really has me concerned. Our Magical Express tags show SSR from our original plans. Talked to a CM and they told us to cross off the SSR and write BLT. They said ME scans that tags and with the single reservation # everything will be delivered without a problem.

Now, I'm a bit concerned.

I would call for new tags with the right codes. We called on tje 1st for corrected tags and received them Friday. we leave in 10 days and.cannot online check in necause we are stayingtje first night at blt

good luck

I wouldn't worry about new tags. We have done that in past and pretty standard procedure if you change resorts last minute, etc. Your bags will get to you without a problem!

I just wanted to say that you were right on the money! I just went to my dvc and saw right away my reservation numbers have changed. I originally had a 1 night studio bwv, a 6 night studio bwv, 7 night 1 bedroom bwv. Just last week (and before) they all had the same reservation number. Now the 1 n and 6 n studio have the same reservation number and are merged into one reservation and the 1 bedroom has another reservation number.

I check in on Oct 20th as of now I still have one reservation number .... I keep checking and post if it changes.

2 nights 1 person AKV Studio DP paid for
8 nights 2 people AKV Studio no dp
6 nights 1 person VWL Studio no dp

Wonder what will happen???? :confused3:confused3

I had just added on a night for December and the CM told me that they are reverting back to individual reservation numbers for split stays due to problems with online check in.
