OK Toddler moms - Show me your lists!

One thing i have learned to always pack for DB that I never had for my own DS is a couple of the use and toss wash cloths for infants. They are dry and when wet contain baby soap.(I use huggies but there are other brands) They are wonderful if baby has a huge blowout messy diaper and the wipes just will not cover it. Also great to clean up an extra messy meal or a sick child.

One of the things that I read on this board that I am going to bring for my upcoming trip is pull-ups instead of diapers. My 2 1/2 year old boy isn't ready for pull-ups so we still use diapers, but what a pain changing them in bathrooms, so I saw someone say they take pull-ups for just this. What a great idea! He is also at that age where he wants the bottled water like brother and sister but just isn't big enough, so I am taking the lids that make them into sippy cups.

I have the same list.

Some additions:

I keep 2 first aid kits: one in the car and one in the suitcase. I also carry a mini one with me in my backpack.

I take a few empty Ziploc bags in my bag. I keep that for wet clothes when the kids go the water play area and also for leftover food, like popcorn. I have also been known to take out funnel cakes from Busch Gardens and place them in a Ziploc bag and then eat it when I get home. lol

I take small toys, trinkets, and little candies, like lollipops, in case of tantrum/fussy/long waiting times.

I also used to use pullups for my diapered kiddos. (They normally used cotton diapers, but for vacation I resorted to disposables.) This was also great for plane rides where changing diapers was not easy in those little bathrooms.

I buy a pack or two of cheap baby washcloths (Walmart, Dollar Store, etc). You can wet/freeze one and use it to wipe faces, necks, hands. Store it in a ziploc bag and it thaws as we tour the park. Feels good on hot days! I like these better than wipes for faces....

I recommend Arnica - it's a plant based first aid item you can find at stores like Whole Foods, health stores, good pharmacies, etc. It prevents and treats bruises, takes away the bruise and the pain.

I didn't bring it last time and wished we had it. My DD took a spectacular fall in MGM that took me longer to recover from than it did her!

I always take along a couple packets of powdered eleyctrolyte solution, I buy LiquiLytes by Gerber, tastes better that Pedialyte IMO and certainly takes up less room, at home and definately in luggage LOL. I get it at Walgreens, check the expriation dates, I seem to find expired boxes on the shelves regularly. Obviously electrolytes are important for sick kids, but even kids that get a little overheated or dehydrated during the day (easy to do at WDW!) could probably benefit from a gatoraid drink or electrolyte mix.

To the PP inquiring about the wet ones:

I suppose the obvious answer is the cost. I am a fan of the travel pack Wet Ones - I pack one for each day in the parks - traveling with or without children. I think Walmart has the best price I've found at .96, and I've seem them other places for close to 2.00, so they can be expensive if you don't shop around and buy them early. I have the plastic tub of WetOnes in my car, and it is around $3 I think and contains 40 wipes, compared to the travel pack that only contains 15 wipes.

Also the travel packs you need to close carefully, they self stick to close but if you leave a gap they'll dry out, but get stuff in your purse wet in the process. It is alcohol based so it does dry fairly quickly. I suppose if you bag them in ziplocs you don't have this problem?

I use WetOnes for everything, wiping hands, wiping high chairs, wiping resturant tables especially the edge and underneath (in front of the high chair), wiping dirty tables at counter service places, wiping shopping carts. Sometimes I'll even wipe hotel rooms when we check in, doorknobs, light switch plates, phone, and tv remote. Oh and the airplane, yep, the tray table, the ledge of the window, anyplace my baby/toddler will touch and then put hands in the mouth. Not that I'm a neat freak, it just that my kids get sick every single time we go out of town.
