Yes, and since the ONLY thing we have to do that with at the time of the reservation is the little checkbox, THAT is all we need to do.
The OP is talking about calling and specifically saying something. That's not necessary. Since we don't have to call to make a reservation, there cannot be a requirement to call and talk to them about it unless there's also a clearly stated requirement to, you know, call.
I've always assumed that the little "this person is not a member" checkbox served as that notification.
