Ok this is fishy, has this happened to anyone else???

Thank you for the update! I think I may buy one before we head down later this year.

One question for you, though - when you fill in the information to order one, did you put your own personal vehicle information?

Yes, that's exactly what we did. Just our personal car is registered on the site (which we will drive to Florida sometimes).

And in response to KINGBOB (and thanks for answering the PP too) -- you don't even have to hold it up - it has suction cups so can go and off the window with no problem. My biggest fear was forgetting it in the rental car, which I'm glad to say we did not! So it's all ready to go for our next trip!

(copied from another post)
Idea for toll road agencies: Post at the toll booth the address of where to send the payment later if you don't have exact change now.

Fiendish idea; put that sign slightly after the coin basket so the next person not wanting to wait for you to copy down the info can "buzz you thru" aka turn the light green.

I missed a toll on 528 as well. When I got home a week later, I went to the webite for th Florida transit. There were directiond for paying when the toll booth was missed. I sent a letter with the appropriate fee and the license plate number of the vehicle. Evidently, it worked as I never received a bill from the car rental agency

This is weird! I got a letter from National regarding missing a toll in August near the airport. I honestly cannot remember missing a toll, but I have done it before when renting with Avis and when I got the letter clearly remembered doing it. But they also charged me their daily fee for using the SunPass thing in the car.

With National though, I honestly do not think I missed the booth. It was on our way back to the airport. I just paid the $11 because I couldn't prove otherwise, but now I am wondering if there is something going on!

If you remembered the way you drove back to the airport, we could have told you where you missed the booth.

Can I borrow it?

Dear
We went to Florida back in July and rented three different cars from Alamo. Now today, November, we have all received letters from Alamo.
Dear Alamo Customer,
Thank you for choosing Alamo for your rental needs in the past.
We recently received the referenced violation notice for a vehicle which was rented to you at the time of the violation. Consistent with applicable laws and the terms and conditions of your rental agreement, we have promptly paid the balance due and expect to be reimbursed for our cost along with an additional administrative fee.
In accordance with the terms of the rental agreement you signed, you are responsible for "...legal violations, parking, tolls incurred by Owner against vecicle, driver, or Owner occuring during the Rental Period, unless caused by Owner. Owner may charge an administrative fee." The administrative fee listed below is assessed by Alamo Rent-A-Car not by the issuing agency
Pursuant to the agreement provisions, we are notifying you of your liability and we will process the following charges on the credit card presented at the rental counter.
If you wish to dispute the amount above, please contact the undersigned within 6 days from the date of this letter. Otherwise, we will process the charges to your credit card 6 days from the date of this letter.

Total Amount Due = $11.00

What's fishy is all three different vehicles and all three different families have received this letter. We tried to dispute it, but was told they are in Oklahoma, there is nothing they can do. How could all three vehicles have a violation??? The citation amount was $1.00 and the administration fee was $10.00!

Please let me know if anyone else has received such a letter....
Thanks!

Dear Sir

I to have recieved this citation letter as well,

Violation Information
Issuing Agency : HTA

Citation Number : T18206471

Location of offence : FLDOT - AIRPORT

Citation Issue Date/Time : 07/13/2009 @ 12:30PM

and so on Citation Fee Due $1.00 and an Admin Fee of $10.00 is this a scam or not ? can anyone enlighten me on this mater.

Yours Sicerly
Brian Laird

I just received this notice from National. I called the number and told them we had a Sunpass (which we do) and they waived the fee. The customer service rep. told me to call the number on the Sunpass from the rental location with the rental license plate number to avoid any violations during future trips. :thumbsup2

I was in Florida in January. I was in an Alamo vehicle also. It did not have a SunPass or E-pass. The toll roads in the Orlando/Kissimmee area can be confusing. Some exits have unmanned toll booths. Some make you exit and reenter if you don't have the SunPass or E-pass and if you don't pull off and pay, you inadvertanlty go through the SunPass/E-pass lanes.

I got the same letter because I exited off the highway where there was an unmanned toll booth. I didn't have any change. I pulled over but there was no one to help me. I called the next day and they assured me Alamo would bill me and they did. I was glad it was not the $100 fine for not stopping and paying the toll. I was a bit more vigiliant after that. And my credit card was billed the $11.00.

I don't know what happened in your case, I wasn't there. But the toll roads in the area are not consistant in how tolls are taken. Some are very clearly marked, some (to me) are confusing because you basically feel like you are exiting the highway and if you didn't want to exit the highway, you continue on, inadvertantly going through the SunPass/E-pass lanes and get a violation and then there are some exits that are unmanned and if you don't have the change...kah ching!

That's been my experience. Best of luck in resolving your alleged violation.:flower3:
