First off, I do not own with DVC, but I do own with Trendwest and through Interval International, we have access to the DVC resorts (havent checked out all the logistics though).

We are planning a trip for July 07, and it will be myself, dh, ds-4 and ds-2 (at that time). Tell me why I should go with a Disney resort instead of another through Interval. We are planning on mostly Disney, but will most likely also do Universal for a day or two.

Are you aware that the success rate in trading other timeshares into a DVC resort is very small. I seem to recall a figure of something like 3%, but that could be wrong.

Very soon, Dean will post and give you good information and advice on what you might consider.

A lot depends on what you want from your Disney experience, assuming DVC even has availability for you to trade into.

DVC onsite guests get the same perks as regular WDW resort guests. Free parking at the theme parks, if you choose to drive; complementary delivery of purchases from the theme parks to your resort gift shop for easy pick-up; charging privledges to your room throughout the WDW resort; easily accessible bus/boat transportaton to/from Disney theme parks. There is a charge of $75 or $95 (not sure which) when you trade into DVC through II. However, if none of the above perks appeal to you, you may be just as happy trading into a nice off-site timeshare through II...it may be more conveniently located to Universal and other Orlando area attractions.

Like I said, I have not checked into the logistics of trading (fees, availability, etc.) I have traded through RCI, but they didnt do DVC.

We have stayed on site once at All Star Sports. While I loved all of the disney perks, I hated the hotel room feel, being spoiled with the bigger and better amenities at the timeshare resorts. We will do a timeshare trade this time as well and depending on availability, I am considering a DVC property. Any other info is appreciated!

Since you want the time share style rooms you will be very impressed with DVC make sure you get at least a one bedroom if your going for the "condo " feel. The studio is just what it says basically a hotel room with a kitchenette. I prefer the one bedroom unless it's a short trip and I'm running out of points.
As far as staying on WDW property there are all the obvious reasons already mentioned by OP. Lcation recreation and transportation. If these three things are not important you can probably get by with something outside WDW. Personally I'm spoiled and can no longer imagine staying outside the park. Even when we drive down except for getting some groceries and a trip to Margarittaville I do not use the car.

Another perk is $100 off on AP's, and $50($60 now) for the DDE card. Also, thru DVC you can book even just one night if you want to, and changing /cancelling is free.

July is very busy at Disney, and DVC resorts are normally full. Unless you have a very desirable timeshare, this will be a very difficult trade. I own Marriott, and haven't yet traded into DVC in the summer, Spring Break, or Christmas. Don't forget that your expenses will include joining II, and paying the $92 if the trade comes thru, and paying again if you have to change or cancel your reservations. ;)

These perks are only for DVC members I think OP is only intersted in exchanging for a single trip
