I just booked a week at the Swan! Wooo!
I've always wanted to stay there.
But I have a couple really dumb questions:

1. Does the Swan get the Disney "in room" information channel? The one that used to be hosted by "Zip?"

2. Is there a Disney gift shop in the hotel, like the other resorts?

3. Does the lack of Disney theming take away from the experience? Is there a total lack of Disney theming?

Thanks!

Yes, you get the same Disney info channels.
The gift shops have a disney one too...

Themeing it is up to you. I happen to love the Swan and Dolphin. My fave is the Swan hands down. It is smaller and more intimate. There is an FAQ on the Resort board with tons of info...

I have stayed there the last 5 times, and have never ever regretted it :)

you can't get anymore Disney than being able to hear Illuminations or see Illuminations from the property. Also depending where your room is you can see fantasmic... :)

Those are exactly the things I wanted to hear... :p

Thank you for the quick replies!

LOL....check out the link in my signature :) :teeth:
hope you enjoy!!!

I have to tell you, we stayed at the Swan for the first time ever in January 2003 and we loved it!!!!! I am a nurse, so we got the nurse/teacher/government employee/militry rate of $129/night and it is the BEST deal on Disney property!!!!

The hotel is beautiful, and it does have a theme...it's sort of a nautical theme...very nice, not at all tacky, the rooms were great, make sure you request a room with a "Heavenly Bed". We were on the 3rd floor, and had a view of the canal heading over to MGM. I cannot say a bad thing about the resort. It was terrific.

I know your questions have been answered, but I stayed at the Swan for the first time last December and let me tell you I LOVE the place!!! I like the theming (nautical/beach feel) and I love the location. I think it is one of my two favorites (with Polynesian being the other). Enjoy your stay there :)

Stayed at the Dolphin several times, October will be our first time at the Swan. We really like the Dolphin, so I know we will like the Swan too.:D

The Swan and Dolphin are both lovely hotels, I've stayed at either/or about 6 times. My favorite of the two is the Swan. I am quite sure you will not disappointed in this hotel, the only problem is you might now want to get out of bed if you get a room with the new Heavenly beds!

I have stayed there a number of times, all at the Swan except for once (last week) at the Dolphin. I prefer the Swan.

Location is GREAT. Theming is, as said, nautical, not really Disney, but there seems to be a hint of Disney in the air (maybe because it is in the middle of the Epcot resort complex :)) The Heavenly Beds are in the newly renovated Swan, not as of yet in the Dolphin. I missed that last week, they ARE HEAVENLY!!!!! The CM's are most helpful and pleasant, the swimming area is gorgeous, the location is great (did I say that before? :))

Only 2 downsides for me are that, being a 'convention resort' and with these two resorts catering to a somewhat greater oversea's number of guests than the other resorts, smoking is allowed in the common areas, like the lobby. I really don't know why it is allowed, I would think it a law not to allow it, but it is. And the other is a somewhat (at times, not always) higher number of guests who look like they are there on business (they are) and it can minimally change the look/feel of a 'Disney place'. I am comparing that to other resorts I have stayed at there, Poly and DxL, which are not concention resorts. I would think the same to be true at the CSR or Y&BC.

Other than those 2 very small things, Billy, I thoroughly enjoy my stays there and will be back there again.

Oh, and did I say the location is great???

If Disney ever built a swan or dolphin themed resort, it would look like the Swan/Dolphin!

We stayed at the Dolphin for the first time in Jan. We LOVED the Dolphin! You can't beat the beach theme, grotto pool, access to MGM, Epcot and Boardwalk! Have a magical time at the Swan!

Ok, here's a quickie question (I'll go over to the Resorts board and try to find it there, but that thread is HUGE!) Do the Swan and Dolphin hotels have connecting rooms?

Yes, they do have connecting rooms!

All you have to do for your Disney theming is look out the window! It's a beautiful resort, the staff is warm and friendly, the grotto pool is great, and the rooms are very tastefully decorated. And it's terrific being right next to Disney's Boardwalk.

Hi neighbor!
Answers to your questions:
1. YES
2. YES
3. NO!

Have fun, you'll love it!! :teeth:

well, I could just repeat all the positives.....but let me add a new one........OATMEAL soap ! I am one of those wierd people who think Disney room amenities are very inferior. I'd trade ya 10 mickey soaps for 1 S/D bar of heavenly oatmeal soap :)

Re the Swan renovation -- will all the beds be "heavenly" now or do I need to request it. We are going at the beginning of May.

Another Swan/Dolphin fan here!

For the price, it's the best value around. The hotels have great amenities, which others have already mentioned, and the location cannot be beat, for the price. Also, ask for Matt at the Lobby Bar in the Dolphin, he makes a great Sour Appletini! ;) ;)

As for Disney, they have a character meal at the Dolphin, with Chip & Dale, and we've seen them in the lobby too, early in the morning when we're getting ready to head to a park. It starts the day off with a very Disney feeling! :)

Enjoy your stay!
