Ok, stupid question. Board shorts for women...are they for swimming in or not?

Please don't laugh at me. I am trying to pick up some summer clothes on clearance for our trip. I keep seeing these board shorts hanging on the racks with the bikinis and they look cute.

Are they supposed to be worn for swimming? Would you need to wear a bikini bottom underneath? Help!

I was at a water park last week and lots of women and girls were wearing board shorts over their swim suit bottoms. I wish I had - one of the slides snagged a hole in my swim suit bottom!

I always wear board shorts over my bikini bottoms. I like bikinis, but I always feel a litle self concious wearing them at the water parks, so the board shorts help ease that... :)

you can definetly swim in them.

but I don't think they are a good substitue for a bikini bottom. (ie - you better have something on underneath those board shorts!)

:)

They are to wear over the bikini bottoms. My dear neice had her board shorts pulled off when she was tubing behind a boat.

We went to a water park and both my dd wore them over their bikini bottoms.

I went back to PAC Sun where I paid $19 a piece cause I wanted to pick some up for next year. I bought them July 2 and by July 9 they were gone. I asked the clerk if they sold them all and she said no, they shipped them all to California cause they didn't sell.

Grrr, big mistake, it don't get warm enough to swim in Wisconsin till July and August and that is when people shop when you know it is warm out. I sadly looked at the winter coats and hats they were stacking and walked out. I hate Wisconsin.

Hey, don't feel bad - they should have sent a few of those board shorts to Arizona. It's 106 degrees outside and we have the same winter coats and hats in the stores here!

My girls have board shorts that they wear over their bikini's. They sometimes wear them in the water - sometimes not. I agree with Stinkerbelle though - wouldn't wear them without the bikini bottom underneath.

::yes:: you can swim in them. I use a bikini top and board shorts. Got the top at Fredericks of Hollywood, nothing like :earseek: , just not comfy in the bottoms.
