Our male grey cockatiel named Ziggo loves to sit on me while I am on the computer. He is good company, but he has bitten through the wires (and ruined) two mice of mine already. He also loves to whistle. In September I taught him Happy Birthday for my bd. So for the longest time I was hearing the whistle "....happy birthday to you..." Then for Christmas I taught him "We wish you a merry Christmas" That is still one of his favorites. The My Three Sons theme song didn't cut it. He got the wolf whistle down pat. It took him a loooong time but he has finally mastered Shave and a Haircut and can do the last two whistles a variety of ways. So now I am trying to teach him It's a small world and he just keeps whistling shave & a haircut back to me! I am having a whistling duel with a bunch of feathers! :) (a bunch of SMART feathers...) I think he is just defying me on purpose.

Jill...who is trying to think of other easy whistles to try to teach him..

My friend's cockatiel would whistle the Andy Griffith Show theme song. ;)

My cockatiel, Gatsby, is driving me nuts because we relocated his cage next to the guinea pig's cage a few days ago. Every time the pig starts making his oinking sounds, the bird immitates him. There's nothing more annoying than an oinking bird. :D

Sure there is kermit! One that imitates the doorbell and the telephone! :p

How about "Whistle While You Work"? :)

Tony, that was my thought ... do you REALLY want your bird to learn "It's a Small World."????? Most people try to get that song OUT of their heads.

DW Lauri had a cockatiel once that had the telephone down pat and could imitate the creek the kitchen door makes when it opens. He talked more than he whistled, though. He learned Toby's name (our white poodle) and would usually rat him out whenever he got in the trash. :p

The bird is smarter than me. I can only finger whistle, I cannot whistle a tune. *sigh*
