Ok so this is very odd but I am intrigued....

I'd need to wear my 'extra safe brown rubber trousers' while riding :lmao: :rotfl2:

I suppose the speed of the fall might keep you pinned to the chair, but when it stopped at the top or bottom there would obviously be nothing there to stop you falling out if there was a jolt.

loool I didnt think the one in WDW had them, stupid i know ..... but when we went on the one at dlp and we were sitting down putting them on- i said to my bf "we didnt do this on TOT at wdw". I cant remember puting them on at all loool

You'd lift a few feet off your seat, then come down with one almighty bang when it stops dropping and goes back up again, because TOT is pulled down faster than gravity.

This is exactly what happened to Fern the crocodile when I took her on TOT last month - she lifted a good distance from my lap, then landed back in it when the lift went up again.

so I presume there is some sort of machanics to stop people undoing their seatbelts for the duration of the ride until it stops?

I assume there is some kind of mechanical lock, much like the system which keeps the coaster restraints closed until it comes back round to the station (or until somebody triggers the emergency release at the back of the car). That would be why they get you to pull the belt before you travel to the twilight zone - to make sure that the lock has engaged properly.

I am not really that gruesome you know, more of a worrier that my daughter who is intensely great at fiddling can overcome some major hurdles with it, just worried about little hands doing what they shouldnt. Hopefully she will be so fearsome and clinging on to me!!!!

She'll be fine with the safety belt. Once the belt is plugged in, you're going up ;) The belt can't be released until you get back down again.

So long as you make sure that the belt is pulled tight, she shouldn't be able to climb out if she was to try that either, because the belt goes quite snuggly across your lap :thumbsup2

there is a locking mech. once your belt is locked in place it cant be undone until the cast member releases the locking mech from the control box. he/she can also see through a display on the front of the lift car if anyone isnt buckled in properly.

however if it did happen you'd be a few feet above the seat then would fall into the seat once it stopped, as people of said its pushed down faster than gravity. a neat trick I've seen done on ToT is to hold a coin flat on your palm for the big drop and watch it hover a foot or so over your hand during the drop.

Oh I must try the coin trick after I have been on it once, *** the first time I will be gripping tightly on to what ever is closest to me!!!!

My friend reckons its better if you balance the coin on your leg... It leaves you free to grab onto someone if you get scared!!

I would be waay to scared to try that!!!

Personally I prefer doing it with a stuffed toy. I had Fern around my neck on her princess lanyard so she was nice and secure, although she still lifted up as the coin would.

I'm not sure I'd be confident that I'd catch the coin when I hit the bottom...

Jacks scared the coin would somehow get stuck in a ride machanism.....

I wondered that, but loose change probably falls out of peoples pockets all the time.

I personally wouldn't do it, but thats mainly because I'd be paralysed with fear....

try it with a loosely put on hat, then if anything does go wrong you can claim it was purely accidental.

the floor grate is too small to let coins through :) lanyards work well too but a coins more fun.
