OK, so really...how bad is the Sci-Fi?

We ate lunch here in 2006 and thought it was great. The kids loved it. When planning our meals for this April, this and Teppan Edo were the only 2 restaurants my kids wanted to repeat. I tried to convince them to try 50s Prime Time but they wanted to return to Sci-Fi. It's mostly the cars and atmosphere but we thought the food was fine and good portion-sized.

This is a "must-do" for us every trip. I love the atmosphere. Food is good. For burgers and stuff, you can't really go wrong. The kids get a kick out of it, and the milkshakes and sundaes are very good! I would definately recommend.

We at here in May and had a great lunch. DH said the burger was amazing and I had the chicken sandwich which was also really good. It's a new "must do" for lunch for us.

I think the Sci-Fi would be good as long as you dont expect it to be 5 star but more of an applebees type place you will be fine.
Also I wasnt crazy about any of the counter services at DHS, i think sci-fi would definitely be the way to go when going to DHS. We will definitely be making a reservation there next trip since we didnt get to go last one.

Sci-fi get a 9 for atmosphere from me and about a 6.5 for food. I think applebees is a good comparison.

One issue is seating for a family of 5 - every time we go somebody has to eat alone in the back row since only 2 fit in a row. :sad1:

We love Sci-Fi :) It is a must do for us every trip. My girls love the burgers, fries, milkshakes, and brownie sundae. I love the chicken sandwich and onion rings :)

We were there in September, the food was okay (on par with somewhere like Applebee's or Chili's), the atmosphere was neat and fun, the service was outstanding.

Glad we did it once, not dying to do it again, but if we were traveling with other people who wanted to do it, we'd happily do so.

It's very enjoyable for children and adults. The food is hit or miss...decent food, make sure you order something that you know you'll like (my wife ordered the blt soup, and wasn't too pleased).

We tried lunch in March and we loved it! The burgers and reuben were yummy and the atmosphere is awesome!

We went back last month and it was still great!

We were there with 3 young children (ages 6, 4, & 2) and it was a hit with everyone.

We tend to go to Sci Fi Diner once per trip. My son likes the atmosphere but he admits he doesn't like the food either. The choices seems so limited or maybe we just don't like any of it.:confused3

We went for the first time this past March. We really enjoyed it and booked another ADR for our Christmas trip.

My husband and both kids had the cheeseburger and I had a shrimp pasta dish.

Can't go wrong with a burger, fries and milkshake (though the "milkshake" is basically chocolate ice cream in a glass. Which is fine by me!) The waitress very kindly volunteered to bring water with it, which was good.

I haven't been in many years but I do have it booked for next week. I think the boyfriend will like it!

:yay:

It's interesting reading this thread. DD and I have tried more than half the restaurants in WDW and tend to hit the same ones all the time so we decided our next trip to book only restaurants we haven't been to and Sci-Fi is one of them. We'll be here on 4/27 (I know, half a year away, boohoo) and can't wait to decide for ourselves. It's easy to get caught up in the LeCellier, Ohana, Boma run....

we ate at Sci Fi last month and LOVED it ~ one of the best overall experiences of our trip. Out waiter VINNY was on of the best we've had at Disney. We had sworn of this rest. becuase of a bad exp - due to an unhappy child and found it hard to get past it but are so glad we did. Vinny was from NY and very good ~ a manager came to our table and we were all given cups with carmelcorn - Vinny noticed DD bday button and she received special b day treatment. Another waiter cam over and handed each daughter a drink light up toy.
Of course all the pleasntries in the world do not make up for bad food, so onto that hubby had ribs I had shrimp and pasta and it was very good and the portions were very generous

My DH and I ordered the same thing just last week there. Dh liked his I HATED mine the shrimp was WAY too fishy. ICK! The kids thought theirs was good. Atmosphere was fun service was good. Over all I a glad we tried it.I probably won't go back unless one of the ids picks it next trip.

We ate there 1 year ago this week and enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. Was it the best food in the world? No, but IMHO the overall experience was good and we plan to eat there during next year's trip. BTW, The chili and milkshakes were really good.:ccat::ccat::ccat:

The Sci-Fi is a must for our family. We love the atmosphere, but I must admit that we really prefer the lunch menu to the dinner one. Hope you have a wonderful time there.
