ok so I bought poly points...my reasons follow;

Congratulations! We watched MK fireworks from a boat that was stopped just in front of the bungalows on December 30th. The view was spectacular! Enjoy your purchase!:goodvibes

I can see only one big risk: after staying in a bungalow for a few nights, it will be very hard to go back to a studio! Beware of addonitis.
I will be great to stay in one of those.

I am staying at Saratoga right now and we went over and looked at the Poly model yesterday. I think I will be walking over to the preview center this morning to add on a small contract.

Congrats on your purchase!

if i purchase points at poly and have points at blt, i can only combine them at the 7 month point even if it is a home resort .. for instance if i want to book blt, i cant use my poly point as well at 11 months correct? i would have to wait to book at 7 months to combine them? thx

Congrats!

As long as you will enjoy your points (and I would add, did not take on a financial burden that will stress you), then it is all good!

We all value our time and our discretionary income in different ways.

Are their cheaper ways to accomplish the same? Probably.

But their are cheaper ways for everything. Most people could have gotten a cheaper car, etc.

Just enjoy the points. I would.

You have to wait until the 7 month window opens to combine points from different resorts.

The home resort booking advantage attaches to the points, not the owner or the membership.

Yes, you can only combine them at 7 months.

Congrats on the Poly purchase! This is my first time posting but have followed the boards for many years. We are purchasing a small add-on tomorrow and intend on staying in a studio two out of every three years..... So exciting!

Good for you, Hydrabob! Enjoy your stays in a bungalow. It won't be long before the other kids are in college and you won't need the bigger villa, so I expect you will stay in a studio(s) eventually.

No validation required from anyone... it's your purchase, your vacation and your memories so a bunch of people on an online forum shouldn't change your decision.

To echo CMOORE's point, I think that expensive points such as VGF and Poly should be used specifically for that resort otherwise at 7 months a $160 Poly point is worth the same as a $70 SSR point.

So congratulations! Here's hoping for many magical vacations!

Agreed! My PVB points are just for that resort. My other resale contract is the one we use to stay everywhere else. We have loved every resort so far. We are especially fond of Vero Beach and Hilton Head. We even love SSR!! Good thing, since that's our other home. :)

In a weird kind of way these conversations are making me want to add on a little more at VGF. Whereas at the turn of the year I felt I had plenty points. Maybe buying points is addictive.

Someone may love what the next guy hates, If the Poly is what you want, it's your money, go for it.

If you should happen to change your mind later, sell, that is allowed. :goodvibes

Thank you guys...

I feel like i can justify one more contract. I plan on giving each of my 3 children a deed in the far away future. I want to enjoy my grandchildren...im 33 so I've got a pretty long time for that but oh well.

Yes i feel that eventually I'll end up using a studio more often but my wife most likely will never go to disney without our kids so ill be more likely to trade into another destination with those poly points.
