We are going for a quick trip January 3 - 6. Of course, I didn't get around to booking FP+ until yesterday and they were all out for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train in MK and Frozen Ever After in Epcot.

So, how long are the standby lines for these? If we get there right at opening/rope drop, what has been the wait times?

Thanks!!

For FEA It was 20 - 30 minutes for us at rope drop in October coming from International Gateway, and going up quickly. The throngs were coming from the main gate as we merged near Mexico. Similarly, if you enter MK at rope drop and follow the crowds to mine train it will be about 20 minutes or so. You'll need to be there at RD and walk quickly with thousands of your new friends.

It’s relatively short for the first hour after rope drop during New Years and January. Not so short during the Spring as the guest composition is different. Get a breakfast ADR inside the park if you want to be one step ahead in the Magic Kingdom or for Epcot use the boardwalk entrance, also called the international gateway.

Thanks! I am hoping to be at the rope to World Showcase after touring the Future World stuff. We are staying at Bay Lake Tower, so we will be coming in on the monorail.

just wanted to add that lately there is a nice amount of same day fastpasses that get added.. it's a busy time your there so they won't last long but don't give up looking, including when your there..

if you don't have a fastpass and want to ride FEA, you need to head there first thing at rope drop. The ride opens at 9am with the rest of the park. If you wait until your done with FW, you'll be waiting at least an hour.

Two years ago I couldn't get mine train but was able to get a same day fp for the next hour. (We wanted to wander vs stand in line)

I agree to keep checking and if you are staying on site, maybe do the EMH. We rarely, if ever, book FP any more in advance than the day before since we don't know what park we want to go to. The only ride I've had issues with getting one last minute is FEA and to be honest, it's not one we've been too keen on riding. I've had good luck on the night EMHs with SDMT.

If you are planning a future trip, I wouldn't worry about these two since your January trip is so short. Yes they were nice but nothing that I would spend a lot of time waiting on line for. If rope drop doesn't work for you, keep checking your app's wait times especially later in the day. We've seen the fireworks many times and will sometimes skip them to do rides with shorter wait times then.

I think it depends on who is standing in line too. If I am standing in line, I can handle the wait. If my 5/7 year old are in line with me, God Help Us All LOL.

If you get to ROPE DROP at MK and run like hell (walk fast) to 7DM you wait wont be terrible (30 min or less). Done this last year around christmas time.

If you want to ride 7DMT and FEA without FP, definitely rope drop or you will certainly face waits of 60 min+. An hour wait isn't the end of the world with just adults, but small children can make it truly difficult! Otherwise, not having FP for the less popular attractions has never been a problem for me.

We hit a non-EMH park at RD and get several E-Ticket rides in with little or no waiting. After the first 45 mins the standby line wait times can get brutal. Keep trying to modify FP + selections. We booked a spur of the moment trip in March of 2015, a busy time as my school is on Spring Break then. We booked on a Sunday for arrival the following Sat. Through that week I repeatedly went into MDE and improved my FP+ times. As mentioned, you can hustle to 7DMT and Frozen at RD.

OK - my bad for not clarifying.

We are a family of 4 with now adult "kids" - ages 21 and 25 - who have been going to Disney World off and on since they were 8 and 4. We are DVC members, but in recent years, have been mostly doing the Disney Cruise Line. We wanted to go to WDW mostly to hit the new attractions since the last time we were there, which has been about 4 - 5 years. We decided to do 3 1/2 days at WDW, then a 3-day Bahamas cruise, for the sole reason that this will be cruise #10 for us, and will put us in Platinum status.

Since we haven't been to WDW for a few years, all this FP+ and Magic Bands etc is a bit new for me, and well, you know, it is hard to teach an old dog new tricks!

Keep checking! I was able to change times for FEA today for the same dates you are going You just have to get lucky with timing to catch the openings. Good luck!
