My dealer has lost my Yaris......lost in the port somewhere, can't say when it will be in as they don't really know where it is I'm thinking God is telling me that the Yaris and I are not meant to be.

So I called and cried on the shoulder of the young man/boy dealer....and they have a Corrolla CE (base model, no power stuff) that is more than the Yaris but he says if I come down tomorrow his manager will work out a "blow out" price for me. So what's a"blow out" price? I know what price I'd be happy with, but I don't know how low they will go. Anyway......wish me luck.

BTW.....anyone have any opinions on the Corrolla? My DS says it's an old farts car....well....I am pushing the big 4-0 you know!

I own a green 2005 Corolla (whom I've named Emmy--love that car!!!) and I really like it. I'm in my mid 20's, if age matters. I bought the care because I was looking for a long-lasting durable car that will hold value if I want top trade it in later.

Good luck in whatever you choose! I'm sorry about the Yaris. Let us know what you get :)

We were just checking out the Yaris. It is beautifully posed on our nearby highway right now with a MASSIVE sign that says "39 MPG". Can we say GREAT MARKETING. :)

I've heard that the Corolla is a really nice car. VERY reliable. The last guy who towed my Dodge Neon before I traded it in was a huge fan of the Corolla. He wasn't a huge fan of dentistry, but he did love the Corollath (Corollas, no front teeth)

Your dealer lost your Yaris? I cry BS on this big time!!!!
Sounds to me like he sold it out from underneath you to someone who was willing to pay more for it. Dealers are know to do this with popular cars.

As far as the Corolla and pricing...check out Edmunds.com to see what the retail value is for that car and what true market value(what others are paying for that car) and then you can tell if this dealer is really giving some "blow out".

Sorry but IMO any dealer that loses your car and tries to put you in another car you dont want I would run(not walk) away and find someone else.

Did you have a down payment on the Yaris? If so, get it back and go somewhere else. If you really want a Yaris then thats the car you should get.
You are going to be using alot of your hard earned money so you should spend it on the car you really want.

I would call the dealer on their bluff and tell them you'll wait. And in the mean time call around to other dealers and tell them your "story" and what you were going to pay for it. No way I'd settle for something other than the car I wanted. Not when it's going to be a brand new car and I'm going to have to pay more for the "replacement".

Unless they offer you the top of the line Corolla for $5k say you'll wait.

Actualy, I suggested the Corrolla. I am sooooo tired of waiting for this Yaris and sick of pouring money into my Cherokee's gas tank. What spurred it was an ad in the Sunday paper for a Corrolla CE for 14,197, only about $1000 more than the Yaris, a good deal for the Corrolla according to Edmunds. Of "course" this one was gone when I called, but I told him I was so upset about having to wait so long for a better mileage car that he "talked to his manager" who said they'd give me a "blow out" deal since I've had such a bad time of it.

I started trying to buy a car 3 months ago and this is the second dealership we've gone through. I just think someone is trying to tell me the Yaris is not supposed to be my car. Besides, the Corrolla has a proven track record, a proven crash test performane, is a little bigger and about the same MPG as the Yaris. If I can get it for the $14,000 I'd be happy ($13,000 would be better, but I doubt that will happen).

I don't have a new Corolla but that is the first car DH and I ever bought. We bought it in 1989 and we sold it 2 years ago and it is STILL going strong-other then general maintenance the only repair we ever made to the car was a new starter. My parents bought their first Corolla in 1972 and we have never had problems with them.

The Corolla is a great car. My mom just bought one for her 80 mile round trip commute. I swear she told me she was getting about 40 mpg commuting. She really likes it. It is kind of "boring" looking (well, some models are) but it is really a fabulous little car.

We got 45 MPG highway with our old Corolla. I have posted this before but the EPA sticker on that car was 35 city/40 hwy when we bought it.

I agree, and I'd call other Toyota dealers and Toyota management until I found what I wanted. In the long run, you'll save more money by waiting for the Yaris. I'd let them know that you won't buy from this particular Toyota dealer if you can't get a Yaris. Let them know you're looking at Hondas.

I have a 2006 Corolla LE in navy blue. I'm in my early 20s. My grandmother also has a 2006 CE in green. I absolutely love it. I don't think it's an "old person's car" I think anyone can drive it. And it's great on gas. I fill it twice a month.

OP, personally, I'd go with the Corolla, but I'm really curious what the base price is & what they will sell it to you for.... as we've been talking about a Corolla in our future....

Was the Yaris going to have power stuff? If so, I'd tell them to make me a deal on one with power stuff. I can't live without my power stuff!

I had a navy Corolla Sport, a couple of years ago, I think it was an '04. Loved that car, it was so cute and fun to drive. The sport model has just a little more "design" to it so it does not look like an old farts car! I work for Toyota and get a new car every few years, I'm driving an Avalon now, but I have to say that that Corolla Sport was really fun!

We have a 99 Corolla CE. It is just about to hit 100k miles. It runs great, has required very little maintenance, been extremely reliable, and is great for fuel efficiency.

It used to be that no one envied DH and I our choice of cars -- basic models with good reliability and gas mileage. But as gas prices have gone above $3/gal, many folks at DH's work have remarked on their jealousy over his commuting car (the Corolla). :rotfl2:

It sounds as if this dealership is yanking your chain with the Yaris. If you're interested in a Corolla, I would suggest sending out a fax to the fleet managers at other local Toyota dealerships asking for a quote and availability on the Corolla. Or, you could use a car buying service like Costco has.

Good Luck! I hate the car buying process.

Whatever happened? Did you get the Corolla or did you order another Yaris?

All I can say is that there is a reason that the Toyota Corolla is the #1 selling automobile of ALL TIME.

Don't get caught up in all the hype... the Yaris is NOT a new car; it is new to
the North American market. The Yaris has existed overseas for several years. It is just the Echo in a different package. I happen to think that the Yaris looks like one of those sneakers with the retractable wheels.

BTW, what dealership did you go to? I work at a Toyota dealership in MA and I'm just curious.
