I just bought this lens, and will spend the next few weeks nervously anticipating its arrival. I have had a year with the 50mm F1.7, and just really wanted another, wider alternative in a low light lens. Reviews were pretty good, and the price was excellent...and I'm hoping I'll get lucky and not experience any of the backfocusing issues some folks seem to run into every once in a while.

So in the meantime, I know a few of you have this lens, and I'd love to see some samples from it. If you've got some wide-open stuff, that's what I really want to see the most - the shallowness of the DOF, the sensitivity and color, and the bokeh. I'd also love to see a few slightly stopped down, at F2ish, to see how much that sharpens things if any. And of course, a few samples under 'normal' conditions at smaller apertures would be nice too.

Let's see 'em!

I'm in the market for something along this idea, also. Count me in.

Well, I've only had my Sigma 30 for a few weeks, but I can tell you that thus far---I'm loooving it. I have no idea if it has the back-focusing issue or not and at this point, I don't care :rotfl:

Below are a couple of mine with whatever EXIF I have available for them. The colors in most (if not all of them) haven't been toyed with too much. Unfortunately, I can't find any that are stopped down at all---I have enjoyed playing with the shallow DOF way too much. Also, here is a link to the Sigma 30 Fan Club thread right here on the Photo Board. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1741690

It was in my future. Got busted again!!! No more camera/ photography purchases for a while. I have to let things settle down.:guilty:

So Ann, how far away are you from him when you took this?

Oh gee, I don't know...I'm really bad with trying to guess distances. I'd say---4 feet maybe? We were in a museum looking at an exhibit together and I just took a few steps back and took it, so it couldn't have been much more/less than that.

Sorry, I realize that's probably not helpful at all. :guilty:

No, it is, it gives me an idea anyway. I'm just dying for mine to get here. I totally did not expect to be getting it anytime this year let alone at all.

Thanks Ann! Those samples are just what I wanted to see - great center sharpness and excellent smooth bokeh. And I didn't even know there was a 30mm fan thread! Never noticed that one before up on the front page whenever I've been here.

I can't wait to get it...but unfortunately I do have to wait...probably a few weeks at the least!

My siggy pic of Grace was taken with the dirty thirty. Taken wide open at 1.4 for this shot. Will post more later.

This one isn't the only one...

I really love this lens even when in it is not wide open.

Wow...you guys get so much closer to Captain Jack in the treasure room! Even with my 50mm F1.7, I have to crop like crazy to get half as close!

Nice...thank you for the samples!
