We are supposed to leave Sun (3 nights) for SSR. Unfortunately, Charley is supposed to 'hit' Massachusetts that day. We have an 8:40am flight. Delta will allow us to change our flights however, DH has a meeting Thurs that he can't miss (so we would only be there for 2 nights). We can't change our trip until the next week because his boss is out for two weeks and he has to be there. We start school 8/31. Changing to Thursday, 8/19 nite could be an option but then the points really go up and we don't have them. I just needed to vent.

I've thought about a lot of the people who have WDW plans for the next few days and can empathize with them. Especially those who will not have many more trips there.

Sorry that this act of nature is wreaking havoc with your plans. I hope all works out for the best for you.

Why not fly in Saturday and stay off property that night?

Lew,
We can't DH (am I'm using the term loosely) has a golf tournament that he has committed to.

"Charley" may break up while over land as they are saying it should take a more western track north which normally reduces a hurricanes intensity. Also, as of this morning, Boston.Com weather says it is going to be sunny on Sunday and 82 here in MA. I think you may be ok. Some pixie to help...

Cora dearie; it really will be OK. I'll keep crossing my fingers for you and sprinkling pixie dust in your direction. Also, as BostonDisKid mentions, Charley may very well break up over land, and will certainly slow down a whole heck of a lot after it whallops the Tampa Bay area and proceeds accross the South. It will likely just result in some heavy rains (yay, no watering the garden again), so you should be fine for your flight.

Good luck!

By time it gets to Mass it will probably just be rain. Even if you can't get out in the morning, you can probably catch a later flight. You'll probably be OK. Here's some pixie dust! princess:

Head down there Saturday and have hubby meet you when he gets done! WDW much more important than golf! Or fly out later on Saturday!

I think you're right! Here's a link to early Sunday Boston weather on weather.com.

Relax, Cora, everything will be just fine. You're going to have a great time!!

I think we in Vermont are going to get more of the storm than you. Now aren't you happy you aren't at this weekend's final Phish concert in Coventry, VT? They're already underwater and are expecting 1-3" today and the tropical storm Sunday...

Don't you just love (a lot of sarcasm here) that commitment to golf? The world could be coming to an end but...golf!

I sincerely hope everything turns out alright. Hey, have you thought about leaving DH behind (no, I'm not kidding here, I've done it)?

Thanks for all of your good thoughts and pixie dust!

Figment56 and Simba's Mom - Yes, I have seriously considered leaving tomorrow...and am still considering it. I've become a weather channel addict...

Lew - good luck at the Phish concert...can you say mud bath???

;)

Good luck, and look at the bright side. By the time you get there, the storm will be long past Orlando!

I was just on the phone with the Irish embassy trying to get my Mom's birth certificate. My late Mom's name was CORA. Never hear that name.
From her to you....
PIXIE DUST!!!!!!!

I would stick with the Sunday departure. By then I don't think it will be more than a really bad rainstorm for the Boston area. Tomorrow will be a madhouse with people re-booking the flights that are cancelled today. Also, if you leave tomorrow you will be flying down into the hurricane as it moves up from the South. I think you'd be better to just stick with the original plan and be prepared for delays.

FYI -- www.orlandosentinel.com has lots of info on what's happening. As of now, here are today's closings and park hours for WDW

Walt Disney World has announced the following operating hours for its parks today:
Magic Kingdom 8 a.m.- 1 p.m.
Epcot 8 a.m.- 1 p.m.
Disney-MGM Studios 8 a.m.- 1 p.m.
Blizzard Beach 9 a.m.- 1 p.m.
Disney's Wide World of Sports 9 a.m.- 1 p.m.
Disney's Animal Kingdom CLOSED
Typhoon Lagoon CLOSED
Downtown Disney CLOSED
All Walt Disney World Resort hotels will remain open throughout the storm. Guests staying at Disney's Ft. Wilderness Resort & Campground are being relocated to other hotels on property.

Have a great time Cora! We will be right behind you! Pixie Dust for all who are leaving soon! I will keep my fingers crossed for ALL of US!

Cora,

Have a safe & happy trip!! Pixie Dust for good weather!! :wizard:

Cora, I leave Sunday from Albany NY I know we will be fine to fly! Maybe just some heavey rain, remember they can change a flight pattern to get us out of the worst of it.

Just a reminder to everyone traveling this weekend to stay in touch with the airlines and with DVC. Like with a blizzard, there are sure to be delays the domino across the country.

I just saw this information posted over on the Resort board here. Worst case, I bet DVC will try to work with anyone who can't make it down there in the next few days.

A temporary cancellation and "No Show" policy has been adopted for travel agents who have booked reservations through Walt Disney World or the Walt Disney Travel Company (agents that have booked through another tour operator should contact that company for its specific cancellation policy).

"No Show" penalties will be waived for any Guest arrivals between Aug. 11, 2004 and Aug. 15, 2004.
Clients impacted by these storms can have their reservation rebooked for another time period and apply the existing deposit/payment, or cancel and have the deposit/payment fully refunded.
The Disney Reservation Center (DRC) will be available from 7 a.m. - 1 p.m. to book or modify package and room-only reservations but will not be taking dining, recreation or golf reservations. DRC will return to normal operating

That's my suggestion also - the one about leaving hubby & letting him get his golf in!!!

I'd leave without him as well! :D
