Just wanted to start a new thread about the positive things POP has to offer. I have read the Bad POP thread and think it is time for a positive one. I would hate for newbies to change reservations becasue of that thread.
We stayed at the POP last December and had our best time yet at Disney. Granted, it is not a deluxe or even mod. hotel but it is totally Disney.
I have 3 children (15, 12, and 10) and we have stayed at many other disney resorts in the past and POP is by far their favorite.
Walls may be a bit thin but we had less noise than when we were at CBR or POR.
Yes, there are alot of children in the pool areas enjoying themselves but what are the pools for anyway?
The service we had at POP has by far been the most helpful and the bus service is the best at Disney. (not to mention the selection at the food court) where else can you get tye dyed cheese cake?
Come on you POP lovers, I know your out there.........Speak UP!

Thank you so much for your positive comments on POP!!!! I was wondering should I change resorts. Then I had to remember everyone has a right to voice their opinion!! I can't wait to go and voice my opinion, hopefully it will be a positive one!:smooth:

We have stayed at POP twice in the last year. The value for the money is excellent. Both times were not that busy when we went, so bus service was wonderful and there were no lines at the food court. We never encountered any noise while we were there either time.

I would highly recommend this resort to anyone on a budget who still wants Disney magic.

I just posted a pro-Pop message on the anti-Pop thread and don't want to repeat it. Have stayed there twice and our family of four loves it. We are staying off-site with my in-laws for Thanksgiving and it seems so barren that I made resservations at Pop and POR for the first week fo January. I like the looks of POR, but my kids wanted to do POP again so we split the stay.

We're going to POP in Feb. 2005
Thanks for a nice thread on POP

I was going with just my two kids ( 8 & 11 ) but now my neice (26) is going too. I'm trilled she is going but now I have a question. Is there room for a twin air mattress on the floor? Thought one child could be with me and one on the mattress. My neice could then have her own bed.

Thank you for any info.
Can't wait to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It would be tight, but my son did sleep on the floor when we were there, not on an air mattress, but on a make-shift bedroll (my sister joined us so therefore used the bed my son was going to use and Jake kicked too much for me to share a bed with him).

Just spent two weeks at POP and will be returning again in January for another 11 nights. I also loved it! I will admit the last 2 nts of our stay were busier and the food court was hopping, but all in all it is excellent value for our money! We are 3 adults and 1 child, and we find enough space for everything.

We liked it enough last December that we're returning again this year! It didn't seem noisy to us, and it can't be any noisier than our apartment. I can hear the man in the building next door (separated by at least 10 feet) when he sneezes!

We've stayed at all levels of resort, and POP is just fine with us!

I posted on the other thread but will post again. DH and I loved the Pop, except for the noise of kids running and shouting late at night and early in the morning (we will bring a fan for white noise next time).

We thought the theming, including the room decor, was great fun! Everything was also new-looking, fresh, and clean. The food court was excellent and with reasonable prices. I'm vegetarian and DH is a low-carbing carnivore :-), and there were plenty of choices for both of us for breakfast (the only meals we ate there were breakfast).

The bus service was good and the whole resort felt friendly and safe. We really liked the fact that the resort is gated and safe (we stayed at the Dolphin on our last trip, which was absolutely wonderful but was not gated).

We could see the Epcot fireworks from the corridor outside our room--Epcot was actually closer and the fireworks therefore more dramatic than when we stayed at the Wyndham at Downtown Disney.

With our discount code, we paid about $55/night, which I thought was a fabulous price. We have never stayed anyplace even close to being comparable offsite for a comparable price. We were very impressed with Pop Century!

I've not read the anti-POP thread...wonder how I missed it!!

I never expected to like the POP, never mind return. I always thought of myself as a kind of resort snob and would only stay at Deluxes -then CBR opened and wanted to try someplace new...then we tried POFQ next, then went back and forth between CBR and deluxes.

Last winter my friend wanted a quick weekend away form the cold and the CM convinced me to give POP a try. When we first drove up I wanted to leave...hated everything about it..but when walking to our room we saw Lady and Tramp icons , and then our room....welll, over the next 4 days I really enjoyed my stay!

Now it's POP or a deluxe only!! Just this morning was able to change from PQ to POP with the help of an incredible CM at CRO! She built the res one day at a time in order to get the days needed! And I'd been trying for weeks with no luck! It was an email code so very limited.

Love the POP and look forward to returning - this time happy to be there from the get go! :)

Thanks everyone for this thread! I just made our deposit today for our May trip. After reading the anti-Pop thread above, I was seriously considering changing resorts! Thanks for the positive comments here! :)

We really liked POP!!! Stayed in april. Easter weekend even. food court was crazy at times. But never once heard yje neighbors during our 6 night stay. My 4 dd loved it. She wants to stay there evry time we go. The food court was a hit or miss for me. But I feel that way about most Disney food. I have to go off property to eat sometimes. But all in all looooove the pop!!!!!:teeth:

We are going as a group and can't wait for February. I was also glad tosee this post. Value resorts are so wondeful and the themes are so much fun. We have stayed at ASM for years and would go back in a minute. Although, I agree that sometimes people allow their children to be inconsiderate of other guests and the different hours they may keep. Especially with the outside entrances at values. I taught my children at a young age that we are to whisper when walking to our room, that at Disney babies may be napping, little tikes may go to bed early, or Partiers may rise late. I never allow the latch/door thing. Those of you who have had a door slammimg experience can understand. I realize it is vacation time and noise and excitement are expected. I just try to keep our noise from ruining someone elses vacation. VaLUE RESORTS ARE GREAT! Don't worry about food court lines they move so fast and there is nothing like the sound of kids laughing in the pool. I, for one can't wait to try PC.

Another big fan of Pop Century!! We loved our stay!!! We'll be back in December!!!!

We LOVED our stay at POP in September 2004 so much that we're returning for 10 nights in January!!! :bounce: :Pinkbounc

We loved everything at POP - the rooms were new & clean, with a fun atmosphere. All of the icons are great when walking around the resorts - we got lots of great pictures - Baloo or Tramp were my favorites! :) It was great to step outside the room around 9 pm & see the Epcot fireworks going off. It made a great end to many great days at WDW.

The bus service was by far the best out of any other resorts we have stayed at (ASMovies, Contemporary, Polynesian, Wilderness Lodge.) The resort is in a pretty central location - only 5-6 minutes to both Epcot & MGM - the longest ride was 12 minutes to the MK. :)

The food court was fun, never overly crowded & had some great selections. Better than run of the mill fast food IMO. I had some tasty pasta & hubby had some great panini sandwiches. The best dessert we found was the fresh baked cookie ice cream sandwich. The refillable mugs were the best! We loved filling up whenever we needed to, and also enjoyed the slushies you could get with your mug.

The pools were always fun & never overly crowded. The Hippie Dippie Pool was fun & so was the Bowling Pin shaped pool. It's neat to be swimming while enjoying the surroundings of all the fun icons around you.

The most noise we heard at POP was during Hurricane Jeanne - we were up on the 4th floor & heard some wind. We also had some neighbors that liked to stand outside the door during the hurricane & talk to each other. The rest of the trip was perfect "noise-wise." Never heard others talking inside the rooms. I don't think you hear others' toilets as much on the top floor as you might on a bottom floor (none above you.) We first noticed the turbo toilets at the Polynesian & then the Wilderness Lodge - I think they're at many resorts now, not just POP.

The value at POP can't be beat IMO. We had a great military rate of $46/night in September & have an AP rate of $49/night in January. We paid $55/night just this past weekend for a Comfort Inn in Southern Oho when we went to visit some family. The room wasn't very clean, smelled kinda funny & had awful water pressure. I also heard more noise in our 12 hours at this resort than in our 13 days at POP in September.

I highly recommend staying at the POP Century Resort. We plan on returning there many times in the future - we have many great memories at POP & think it is a great Disney Resort. :)

Stayed 6 nights in Feb. and 2 nights in June.:p Will be staying there again on Dec. 11-13!::yes::

I have only stayed in the 50's section - which I dearly loved!!!

what's not to like - you get to wake up every morning and see Lady or Tramp and the pool.

Loved the food court - yes it is expensive - but all food at WDW is expensive.

You can walk around a beautiful lake - reading the silly signs as you go.

all the Icons make it a fun place!!!

loved the walk by and forth - this resort has a lot to look at - the landscaping is excellent - the place is very, very clean.

loud kids - I am sorry you are gonna have kids at every WDW resort and even in the deluxe resorts the kids voices will carry - especially when they are happy... which is how kids feel at WDW (or should).

the quiet swimming pool over at the 50's was great - Mother loved the 4 ways in - all had steps - she loved this pool had a big problem getting her out of it.

Now if we were in the 70, 80 or 90 - I would still love it - but that is alot further for Mother to walk - so she might not enjoy as much.

the rooms are cute! - small, hey it is a value resort, but definitely enough space for two people - now 4 adults might be pushing it - but 2 adults just fine!!!

both the value and the moderates have 2 double (full) beds - the deluxes have the queen beds. Most hotel rooms have double beds.

the bathroom was small but excellent - again very, very clean.

we are going back to Pop Century for this trip - only one night - we are really staying off-site - but I know even for one night we will have a wonderful time here.

I also love the bar outside at the pool....

A big thumbs up for Pop! We stayed last December (right after they opened), and we loved it! Stayed in the 70s area, right next to the Big Wheel and across from the big Mickey Mouse phone.

I didn't notice a lot of noise, Everything Pop was great -- the food was good, service was great!, and bus service was fast. We waited a little while once or twice, but never more than 15 minutes or so. And, after Wishes, they had us out of the bus area at MK very quickly.

We're staying somewhere else this year (because one of my goals is to stay in every resort), but will definitely be back to Pop!

I LOVE Pop! I think it's SO much nicer than the All-Stars and the food court and bus service both ROCK! :teeth: Not to mention the nice little lounge inside, which is something the AllStars don't have.

I stayed there 5 nights last December and will be there again for 10 nights over Christmas!

:hyper:

I love Pop too!!! It's the only resort we've stayed twice, and we definitely will return! I've stayed at deluxe, concierge and mods and Pop is one of our favorites; it's my DD7's favorite for sure... she loves the Hippy Dippy Pool. I love the transportation and the food court. I think it's sthe best food court in Disney. When we stayed at POFQ in Sept, I realized how much better Pop's food court was...

We stayed in the 60's section facing the lake and in the 70's section where at the Big Wheel building (10) and had no issues with noise or distance to the main hall (a very short walk). My only complaint was with parking.... July 4 weekend was baaaad; it was hard finding a parking space late at night. In October, we parked really close and didnt move the car all weekend, so no complaints there. ;)

The rooms are adequate for us and it's great value for the price (of course, I use AP or FL discount). Plus the theming is great and the atmosphere is fun and festive. We can't wait to stay there again!
