Ok, here it goes. I need some help as usual on
finding out some information. You think I really
would have a grip on this by now, but I was (I THINK?)
shocked at a pin meet I went to on Sunday.

I know they can be out there because I have seen
them, them being Fantasy & Bootleg. I have never
seen a COUNTERFEIT Disney pin (which I think is
Counterfeit) until yesterday.

Now, I am "assuming" that this was a counterfeit
due to the back of the pin and the edge around
the pin were all wrong. The rest of the pin was
to perfection.

The original pin has a special backstamp to were
this one just had a black back Disney with the little
c, limited edition and CHINA on the back of it.

Out of the really good pins like FLUBBER, WET PAINT,
POOLSIDE MICKEY, HAUNTED MANSION DANGLE,
INAUGURAL AND MICKEY FOR PRESIDENT etc etc
has anyone seen any counterfeits of these or any
other hard to get Disney pins??????

Am I right in saying that if it was a prototype or a
artist proof it would have a special stamp?

Just looking for some opinions out there and I guess
information on how to tell?????

Thanks
Dana

I once had a counterfeit pin of one of the Disney Channel pins.
It has been more than a few years ago, and I never realized it because I did not look at the back of the pin. I rec'd it in a trade with a French pin trader. And quite often, it seems France is where many of these pins originate.
I only knew it was a fake because a CM loudly embarrassed me at Expo Hall due to me trading a *bad* pin to her. :earseek:
Lessons learned from that experience. ;)
Knowing what I know now -- I can tell the lesser quality of that pin. Although the Disney Channel pins are older and not of great quality anyway.
I don't know that quality can always be a factor showing a counterfeit pin. I have some Disney pins that leave something to be desired as far as quality goes. The last DS pin series is a pretty good example. And so are some Japan pins.
I traded for a cute little Japan pin the other day that is rough around the edges -- literally. ;)
Usually the give away is the coloring, and sometimes the characters are not quite right. But I have seen park pins where the characters don't look like you would expect too.
Some fake pins I really like and glad to have -- like the Coke/Disney character pins form Europe. :)

I know what your saying and in that case all I can say is Bite me Manny

Dana,
I have seen counterfeits of the parrot Dangle and a couple of the other good Pirates of the Carribean pins. I knew that they were fakes because they were miscolored and didn't look good. I know someone was trying to sell some of them on ebay.
