Ok Now I'm Mad.....

We've done a few trips where we changed hotels completely (DLH, to offsite too). No big deal really. I say go back and move rooms, grab a bite to eat and hit the parks again.

I agree with Amy that your probably lucky they were able to add another night on at all. I know our hotel is completely booked out for next month. Best to plan the whole trip early, or just be happy that they were able to accomodate you! I'm sure the last night having QQ won't be that bad (we've had QQ rooms when we didn't have kids, no biggie). I don't see a reason to be mad here, sorry JMO.

I figure worse case scenario i'm going to pack all my bags in the AM and take them to the front desk when we leave for the park and then pick them up and check into our new room at like 12:30 am when we get back from the park......I am soooo not leaving the park midday on our last day!

Before I got to this response, my suggestion was going to be exactly this. Since it is the last day you will only need an overnight bag anyway. Pack what you will need for the last day in a carry-on or the like.

When you take your luggage to store at the front desk you may want to pre-check-in to remind the hotel of the game plan. You can likely leave the majority of your luggage at the front desk, since you will check out the next day anyway.

Call the front desk before doing this though as you will find things have a way of working out. The hotel would rather keep you in the same room as it would be in their best interest cleaning wise.

Chances are they will find a way to accomodate you when the time arrives. Be flexible, remember a QQ room is not the end of the world and be EXTRA nice to whomever you check in with. You'll catch more flies with honey than vinegar. Tip well while you are there and be sure to drop the info that it is your anniversary. Maybe even your first trip to DL. Can't wait to come back next year, and the year after that and with our future children. Some people may not give a darn about these things, but others will go out of their way to accomodate you b/c you are pulling at their heart strings and have been leaving a happy/good impression in your wake. I have been in the hospitality business dept before and I promise you that the nicer you are the better off you will be. If you are cranky, demanding and a royal pain in the you know what they will make your stay miserable. Not only will you be switching rooms, but housekeeping won't be timely or thorough, Basically you'll be flagged as the hated guest. Not cool.

I don't know about the Jolly Rancher - but the one time we requested a King room at HOJO - the room we got was SO small (Building 1 at the end with a balcony to the freeway). There was no way two beds could have fit in the room.

After the first night we were switched into a two queen or two double room in building 1. There was so much more room.

ROFLMAO Ok no offense to a couple of you but you seem to have missed the basic point......when I called to schedule the last night the person I spoke with LIED and said they couldn't look up my original reservation to accomodate me in the same type of room; when in fact they could look up the details...they just couldn't change it. THIS is why I was so upset. I have no problems being in a King size bed, or a 2Q makes no difference to me as long as there is a bed. But the fact that the hotel lied and then wouldn't try to make it right is what set me off. Due to this I took matters into my own hands.......I cancelled the reservations with Jolly Roger and switched to a different hotel.....5 nights, king bed.....3.5 weeks notice.........best part?? I saved OVER 80 bucks....LMAO sooo.........don't mess with my vacation Jolly otherwise you won't get my $$$ :lmao:

Maybe I am missing it but where in your original post do you mention this?

Glad it worked out in the end. And guess you learned a valuable lesson here too...package deals are very rarely deals at all.

I didn't see that in the original post either. Unless I'm missing it also? :confused3

But I'm glad it worked out for you anyway! Sometimes it's better to move hotels so you can get what you want. We stayed at the Jolly Roger once years ago, it was very LOUD. I remember not getting a lot of sleep on that trip just from all the people above us, next to us, and outside. Wasn't cheap either, so we haven't gone back there.

To anyone who doesn't want to read a vent leave now because I really NEED to vent! I made my original reservations through AAA for June 22-26 then I decided I wanted to add one more night and leave on the 27th. Well AAA was booked so I called our Hotel [Jolly Roger] and explained what I needed and they made a reservation for the final night. Well I found out today they reserved a 2 Queen room for us when our other rservations with AAA are for a King.....meaning that we'd have to switch rooms mid trip...:scared: ...so not convenient having to leave the parks midday to pack up our stuff and switch.....especially when it's our last day at the parks! So I called and asked them to switch it only to be told they're sold out of King rooms for that night!!!!!!! What did they offer to do?? Oh well I get to call back and hope someone cancels!!!!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR I'm soooo angry right now I could pop a blood vessel!!!!! It's my anniversary trip, not to mention probobly the last time i'll get to DLR in a while [college age not a lot of $$] and I don't want to spend my last day dealing with all this drama!!! I thought everything was going so well planning this trip and now to see this really upsets me!:sad1: Ok thanks for letting me vent............

Okay, I have read this again and don't see the part where they lied to you. You only state they made a new reservation, not that they told you it was one thing when actually it was another. So that does indeed make it different. However, please don't scold us for not knowing about what you didn't post. I am glad it worked out, it sounds like all in all, it was for the better! Have a great anniversary trip to Disneyland.

.
You were supposed to pick that up through telepathy.
Osmosis would have worked also but that requires a lot of expensive equipment.

Okay, I have read this again and don't see the part where they lied to you
You mean you're not telepathic either?

OMG.....I guess I was so mad when I wrote the original post that I thought I had added that part.....my bad. Sincerest apologies to all who are as incapable of telapathy as I am :) The package deal with the new hotel and the Jolly Roger for 4 nights would have been the same price, but the extra night not included in the package was going to be $170 all on it's own! I'm just glad it worked out and now I don't have to worry about it.....really glad if it's extra loud at JR Thanks!

Totally understand! Nothing will get me steamier than when ANYTHING gets in the way of my Disney fun! I have never heard much in the way of good reviews for the Jolly Roger. Which hotel did you end up getting? Take that money and buy yourself something fun at DL to remember this special trip!

Well it used to be the Red Roof Inn, we stayed there last year for our trip and it was really nice for the price. From what our travel agent says apparently Motel 6 bought the place......so it's now a Motel 6......I know not the greatest of places but we figured they've had the place less then a year so maybe it won't be completely trashed:confused3 Were only going to sleep there anyway [as I refuse to waste precious park hours LOL] I'll probobly bring my own comforters just in case...but for the price I really can't beat it....being on a college budget and all:thumbsup2

We stayed there when it was Red Roof and it was okay. Pool was nice. The elevator was broke a couple of the days of our stay. But wasn't that big of a deal. Rooms were clean and decent size. Our biggest complaint was the people next to us checked out, and had their alarm set for 3 am! We called the front desk and it took them until 5 am to come and shut it off! That was pretty annoying, but I guess that can happen anywhere.

Sorry to say it, BUT - the OP doesn't really seem to have any reason to be upset at the hotel or AAA. And, to top it off, is it really that hard to change rooms for your last night? I mean, you're living out of a suitcase for the week anyways... It's not like your there for three weeks or anything.

It's unfortunate but not a reason to be mad at anyone.. at least not enough to "vent".

She said if you didn't want to read her vent then go elsewhere, perhaps you should have done that. Sounds like everything worked out in the end, though and I'm happy.

Nothing worse than having to deal with rude people and situations that are beyond your control when all you want is to have a nice fun, relaxing trip.
