ok not my concern - but do any parks have a sports bar?

Looking at the Boardwalk the only other "entertainment" are adult things starting at night and the only recreation are "Surrey Bikes" I wonder if there is anything else in the works that will be open by November.

The only time I can recall them doing this was for the World Cup at the Odyssey Pavilion at Epcot. They had TVs showing the games and a small beer/snack menu I believe. It's not a bad idea, but TVs could definitely break "the bubble" of the parks.

Yeah there's definitely a breaking-the-bubble issue which is why I didn't include MK or AK. I think Epcot is "real world" enough that that's not breaking a bubble (I think the Rose n' Crown would be a perfect fit in with the reality... what English pub DOESN'T have a TV showing games these days?! :) ). DHS had American Idol and I think an ESPN building at one point so, again, I don't think that's really breaking the 4th wall of the parks.

Although I agree it will shift the nature of park going with some of the crowd (You and mommy go to ahead to the land pavilion and daddy will explore english culture at the Rose n' Crown... all day) but if a customer wants to spend $100 to go into the park to watch football and drink beer... How can Disney lose?! :D

I think there's a need for a decent sports bar at least on Disney property (resorts aside) Placing it at Disney Springs or on the Boardwalk is a good idea (the trick is keeping it profitable during the down times)

The Rose and Crown pub is too small to put in a TV and fill it with sports fans. It gets crowded enough as it is. What they really want there is to move as many people as possible in and out, which is why there is so little seating in the pub. not have them stay 3-4 hours to watch sports.

I think if there is a shot at a sports bar other than ESPN on property, it'll be at Disney Springs.

What about splitzville in disney springs? that's basically a 2 floor sports bar with bowling alley...

Springs is going to be your best bet aside from anything recommended above already.. I'm not really a bar visitor. Might also be a good evening for a city walk/universal trip :)

Disney won't return the arcades.
To my knowledge,NONE of the Arcades at the WDW Resorts were removed.

Thye just removed the Prize Redemption Counters and arcade machines in the arcades no longer give out "prize tickets/prize points".

They got rid of the one at the Poly and I want to say one other (Grand Floridian?) Although those might not have been related to the law (although getting rid of the redemption games certainly was)

I think one big issue with this would be the commercials. Companies pay big money to advertise within the parks (or sponsor attractions, etc.). You can bet Disney does not want to show commercials in the park without getting their cut. Suppose Universal were running a commercial during a particular sporting event? I'm not saying a sports bar couldn't fit within Epcot, but I doubt Disney would ever want it to happen. The World Cup think I am sure was probably worked out with this in mind.

I was thinking it's most likely a licensing issue of some sort. I think even dive bars have to pay a premium on cable to show sports programming publicly. I'm sure everybody would be jumping on Disney for that (Cable AND the sports franchises!). Though I thought maybe they'd work it out via their ESPN license.

I wonder if Disney hotels use Comcast... :D

I like the idea, but I know we want to hit MK right at 4pm. Can I get a bus from Disney Springs to MK and if so how long?

there are no buses or boats that go direct to parks but you can easily hop through contemporary and walk it. It's only an extra minute or two further from mk bus stop. you can also jump through another resort but speed wise, go to contemporary.

We watched our game in our room, but we are lazy :D

Same Here. I watch Stanley Cup playoffs from my room every June. Unless you're seeking the company of other sports fans I don't see no reason not to watch from the room. I already have booze on hand because we go grocery shopping on day one so why go broke sitting in the bar.

Wheels are turning.... Ohana Character Breakfast, watching game at the Poly then going to Christmas party at four. Question, is there a playground or arcade for our six year old during the game?

How is DH going to watch a football game in the bar and six year old at the arcade at the same time

Does he have to watch? We streamed the audio broadcast through Sirius while we were in lines (Disney and Packers are top priorities in my life and there's no need to give up one for the other).

With earbuds of course.

Just to clarify some language the OP is using, there really aren't 'sports bars' in WDW. Tambu and Territory are not 'sports bars,' they are lounges that may have TVs in them, and you really won't find a 'sports bar' save a handful of places like the ESPN restaurant already mentioned. Disney Springs may offer more options. I've heard watching the game at ESPN can get really fun because it's filled with people like your husband who sought out space to watch the game. He could also view the game in many of the other places people have mentioned, but just make sure that his expectations are realistic on what the experience will be.

Yeah Territory is just a typical lounge, not an actual "sports bar" - I brought that up because when I was out there during NCAA March Madness a few years back a buncha people had taken over the TV at the CL in the Contemporary and at the Territory Lounge they had moved several chairs and tables around the TV to watch.

There is also a bar just off the Lobby of the Dolphin that, on a Sunday afternoon, is almost assured to have a football game on. OP: Do you know for certain that the game your DH wants to watch would be the one broadcast by the local Florida station? If not, he would definitely want to go to the ESPN Club where they would likely have a choice of games. Otherwise, any other TV is just going to have whichever game the local Orlando Fox or CBS station is contractually obligated to air.

I don't think there would be many down times. There's always a game being played - baseball, soccer, football, hockey, basketball, the Olympics, the World Cup. Heck they can even show the Little League World Series. I think the bigger problem would be deciding how many TVs to put up and which games to show.
