Hey guys, sorry I have not been on much lately! This pregnancy so far has been hard! I was really sick with my first one too and was hoping it would not be this way again but it is.

I am so sick all day and there are very few foods I can stomach. It is such a downer to just feel so badly all day long that all you care to do is sleep and hope it goes away! BLAH! :guilty:

Anyways, I was just wondering if any of you momma's out there had any ideas as to what I can eat or drink to help some? Any miracle foods you were able to stomach when pg and sick?

I can not seem to drink anywhere near enough and have been running a low grade fever from being dehydrated. I do not want to end up in the ER getting fluids like I was 3 times with my son. Not fun!

Any help? I am desperate here..lol

Thanks guys!

Gingerale and saltine crackers? :confused3

I really have no ideas, only sympathy. I never really had morning sickness...just walked around feeling a tad queasy for 3 straight months.

What seems to be working for me is constant snacking honestly. Just chose something that isn't too high in fat/calories. Right now, I am in a sweet phase and those conversation hearts are working.

Also, ginger ale or 50 mg B6 twice daily are good alternatives.

As far as "miracle" foods... my dr recommends comfort foods. For me that means mashed potatoes, tomato, mac & cheese. Also, easy on the stomach foods like soup are good... but watch out for things like eggs because they can be not so easy with that pregnant digestive tract. :faint:

Been a while since I was pregnant but I still remember that awful feeling. What worked for me was to keep some crackers beside the bed and eat a couple before I raised my head, if I raised up that was it! Also, eat many small meals thru out the day - never let yourself get hungry. Good luck, as you know it will all be worth it. :grouphug:

I had it BAD with both my boys - BAD! I truly didnt leave the house for the 1st 3 months - with both.

Smells bothered me terribly - I couldnt use anything scented AT ALL. (and Im the hugest perfume floozey you'll meet)

Graham Crackers, Saltines, Jello, Popsicles. Thats the nutrition I got during those months. Do any of these work for you?

Also, just in looking online so much - I noticed they now have Ginger Lollipops for pregnancy to help with nausea. I wonder if something like that would work?

I had also seen (after the fact) that smelling newspaper helped with pregnancy nausea. Weird, I know - but I heard it...just hold the newspaper up to your face and sniffing. I think I saw that on Jenny Jones, years ago.

Good luck to you - it sucks, I know. But also remember it goes away, it just feels like a lifetime until it does. :grouphug:

I found those suckers:::: https://www.inventiveparent.com/preggiepops.htm

Maybe they'll help?? Try 'em...

i used bread sticks (stella dora comes in a package of about 24) cuz ds gave me a sour/acidy stomach. for dd i was just plain nauseas and i found bean burritos (taco bell) worked best. did'nt know why for the longest time then my obgyn said that protean is an excellent treatment for any type of nausea. i've since tried eating items high in protean when my stomach is upset and find it works realy well.

jello is a great source of hydration and seems to stay down well. you can even drink the stuff in it's liquid form.

I had awful morning-noo-night sickness with both my boys. I lived on chees and crackers for weeks on end. The only real food I ate was rice, apple slices, chicken broth, and jello. I kept popcorn by my bed to eat first thing in the morning. Mostly I just slept. It was the only thing that really made me feel better. Hope this passes soon :grouphug:

GInger ale , Popsicles, and Burnt Toast

is what I lived on for a month or so with DD 1

With DD to munchin on pretzels all day helped

hope you feel better soon

Tic Tacs!
I know it sounds weird -but part of the problem may be ptyalism -too much saliva.
Sucking on something minty sometimes helps. tic tacs really helped or just plain peppermint.

I had 24-hour-a-day "morning" sickness with both pregnancies that lasted well into the 6th month.

My first pregnancy was just miserable and there was nothing I could do that would help. At the start of my second pregnancy, I had moved from Maryland to Virginia and got a new OB/GYN. At the 7th week of pregnancy, when the morning sickness hit full-force, I went in to see him. He gave me a prescription for Phenergan suppositories to use once a day. I was able to cut them in half (and use only half the prescribed dose) and take enough of the edge of the nausea that I could function, eat, and not become dehydrated.

I will tell you that I have scoured the the world looking for foods and cures that would work for morning sickness and NOTHING does. It is very important to not get so sick that you do become dehydrated and malnourished. I realize that no one wants to take meds during pregnancy, but somewhere along the line there is a point that you have to weigh the risk/benefits.

According to my OB/GYN, they have used Phenergan for years with no harmful effects on mother and child. I was very nervous at first, but over the past 10 years (since my pregnancy), I've talked to a lot of women who used this too so I did feel better.

You may want to speak with your doctor if it is really bad. There is morning sickness and then there is MORNING SICKNESS!! Some types are liveable and some types aren't. I know my cousin had it real bad and had to go the hospital a few times to get I.V. fluids. Personally, I like to avoid going to the E.R.! Good luck.

I was so sick with ds. They say eating something sour helps. I would eat sweet tarts and it helped a little. When I was pregant with my dd I realized whenever I drank or ate a diary product it made me sick. That may have been why I was so sick with my son, because no matter how sick I felt I still drank milk for as much calcium as I could get. With dd I drank orange juice w/calcium.

I found that I got sick when my stomach was empty. I nibbled on saltine crackers all day! Good luck!

With my first pregnancy, I had severe nausea thru the whole pregnancy and took a drug called Bendectine. It had been used for years (I think since the 1950s) all over the world and studies showed no difference in birth defects between babies born to mothers who took it vs mothers who didn't. But, because of lawsuits from parents with children with birth defects, the company took it off the market (even though the drug company won most of the cases, they could not continue to spend money on trials and elected to stop selling the medication in the US - it is still for sale with different names in other countries). Studies later again proved no problem with the medication, but it's never come back into use in the US. You could ask your doctor about substitutes for Bendectine (the active ingredients are available, just not the combination marketed as Bendectine).

With my second child, Bendectine was not an option and I was also given suppositories (mine were Tigan, which is similar to Phenergan). I didn't lkie taking them, but it was a choice between using them and eating or maybe ending up in the hospital because I couldn't eat.

One non-medicine thing that helped me was to eat things VERY cold. I ate a lot of frozen peas, corn and fruit. Besides things that were aready frozen, I froze things like applesauce, banana slices and grapes. The frozen foods didn't have smells that bothered me and I could eat them. I had problems with crackers (they were so dry, they gagged me), but I could eat dry cereal, so I carried bags of things like rice puff, Corn Chex, Rice Chex with me all the time. I always kept food with me.

My cousin (who I briefly mentioned in my earlier post) was also on Bendectine during her first pregnancy and they pulled it off the market after she had only taken it a few weeks. That's when she got SOOOO sick. And subsequently ended up in the hospital two times. At that point, they did not offer her Phenergan or Tigan.

I also didn't care for the Phenergan (at first). It made me groggy but totally took care of the nausea. That's when I got the idea to split the suppository in half. I mean, I could deal with *some* nausea. So that's what I did. Had a bit of queasiness but MUCH less tired with half a dose.

I tell you, the Phenergan saved my butt. I had to work full time and commute during my pregnancies and I would not have been able to do it without the stuff.

With my first two I had all day sickness from week 15 through delivery. Things that worked for me....

ginger (which I normally hate)
never letting my stomach get empty, this meant that I was always eating something but as soon as I got empty was when I got sick. It was hard in the morning so my dh started getting up around 4am, getting some crackers into me and then I would slunk back off to sleep for another two hours. That really helped me once he figured it out.

I also found that I could drink fruity smoothies and then started putting protein powder in them.

This time I had typical morning sickness that ended at 13 weeks and what worked for me was......

sucking on black licorice flavored hard candy
giving in and eating whatever I did crave no matter how crazy it seemed.

Some people swear by seabands. they did not work for me :confused3

I had horrible morning sickness the first 5-6 months of my pregnancy. My doctor told me to use Boanine (sp?) take one in the morning and one at night before going to bed. Boanine is a motion sickness pill, you can find it at your local pharmacy they should have it. sucking on peppermints helped me too.

Very cold, crisp green apple slices
Lemon Italian Ice-Worked wonders for me both times!

I had it pretty bad as well---it really does help to eat anything that sounds good, no matter what it is. I went through about a month's stint of chicken pot pies from KFC because that was the only thing I could stomach. :rotfl:

I've heard pretty good things about those Preggie Pops, but never had the chance to try them. Chewing gum can help too, if you stick with a mint flavor.

Hang in there--you know from past experience that it doesn't last forever, even though it doesn't seem like it right now!
