Ok need help from you gamers

You must have the sensor bar set up wrong. The "sweet spot" should be huge and not hard to find at all. Or maybe it's your living room. lol What I mean is there are a few new sensor bars coming out that can be adjusted wider, so if you have a big living room they work better. Also, some of the games are really touchy--especially the older ones like Rayman. But the newer ones are better (well most of them).

As for DS games on the Wii. As far as I can think, none of the games are direct ports. They are the same franchise, but different challenges, different set ups, different games. Which makes the Wii a good fit, since DS owners will be able to play new versions of the games they love on the Wii.

But again, the OP can go for the PS3. It's a good way to grow up as a gamer ;) and try new things with way better graphics. The Wii is about innovative gameplay and fun franchise games, while the PS3 is a Blu-ray player with some nice games with fantastic graphics. Hopefully, the games will get better.

thanks for the heads up on the new sensor bars that will be coming out. that will be good for us. our living room is very odd. narrow and long so there's only one way to optimize the space which is how we have it layed out right now. we can only play the games in one chair of the house. or stand.

i know there are different challenges for the ds games that are similar to the wii games but personally i would never buy a game for one if i already have it on the other. Just personal preferance.

and i agree with the last paragraph completely. The other thing that is awesome about the ps3 is there are so many games you can play online with more on the horizon. :woohoo: can't do that with the wii....yet. :confused3

If you get a PS3-if anyone here gets a PS3-RUN do not walk to buy Ratchet and Clank!! The game is like playing inside a Pixar movie!!!

Even if the games are completely new and different? That doesn't make sense to me. If I play Wario ware on the DS and love it, I'm going to buy the one for the Wii since it's a very different experience with new levels to enjoy and the wiimote to use. If it was the same exact game I wouldn't consider it, but if it's different and I love it, I'm going to buy another one. That's why they have sequels.

You can play a bunch of games online with the wii right now (Guitar Hero, Madden, Mario Strikers) and tons more are coming including more connectivity with the DS.

Sorry, I don't mean to be argumentative.

Great, NowI have to go rent another game! Thanks Fits!!:headache:

DH said I can divert some overtime funds over the next couple of weeks for a gaming system, but I can't decide which one I want.

I have Nintendo DS lite and a game cube that we really never played with that much. I love trauma, zelda, and Animal Crossing. I am not really into sports games or war games. I really want guitar hero so those types of games are cool.
I am mostly a pc gamer - love Sims, tycoon games, Civ, and EQ2. DH loves EQ2, Civ, and Doom type games. Wasn't that thrilled with Halo.

I'm not sure which would be better for us - Wii or PS3. Can you play PS2 games on the PS3? I'd like lots of options for us and don't want something that will be obsolete quickly. DH is leaning towards the PS3 because of the blue ray, but I really haven't done any research on the systems.

My husband has a nintendo original top loader, Nintendo Gamecube, Nintendo DS (and I have a pink DS), and a PS3. We bought the Wii and had for 2 months, then got bored. All the games are basically the same premise...stand up, move around. It gets old quick...trust me.

Go with the PS3. Sure, it costs more...but it has a lot more versatillity. PS2 games play just fine on the PS3. I have yet to buy any Blu Ray discs for it (waiting for them to get cheaper)...but I've heard this makes for very nice movie viewing!

I have every console and handheld system except for an Atari, Sega CD, and the original Game Boy (it was stolen years ago...). Someday I'll have those 3 too. :rotfl2: I'm a weirdo... ANYWAYS - That said I, of course, have the Wii and PS3 and to have to choose one is a personal decision. I honestly think you should go online (like others have said) and into the stores and look at the different games to see which has more you think you'd like.

As a side note - if you get your PS3 from Best Buy (and I think other stores) - you get 5 free Blu-Rays! You choose from about 5 in each of 5 categories, but it's a pretty good deal considering how much the movies are right now!

Good luck!!

(and I don't miss EQ1 corpse runs, ConcKahuna)

Corpse runs are sooo 3 years ago. You can summon your corpse to the Guild Lobby now, a zone right off the Plane of Knowledge.

I'm a bit of a Nintendo Fanboi myself. I even found my Nintendo Virtual Boy the other day. I always loved Metriod, Zelda, and Mario games, so the Wii would be for me (I also used to cheat on Nintendo and play Sonic games, but now that they are on Wii i can stay loyal). PS3 does have the FF series, and that is one of the greatest game series ever. It's a tough choice, but like others have said just check and see what games you like most :thumbsup2

It's not that you don't want to play different games, it's that everything you listed as a fav is only available through Nintendo and other systems don't have games like them. The other part was the games you said you don't like, which are largely what the PS offers.

None of the systems really have a bunch of great RPGs, but the Wii has Zelda (not an RPG, but whatever) and the Xbox has some. The PS really is lacking in that area.

There is nothing wrong with be a NIntendo fan (its much cheaper for one thing).:thumbsup2

From this post I think you're leaning PS3. Go for it. Just go to the websites we mentioned and look at the games.

You're misintrepting what I said. I was just listing games I've played and liked in order for those who like those games or similar to say "I like those games too and found X game on Y system to be really enjoyable" or "I like those games and haven't found anything remotely like that on any gaming system but the Z system). I know the Nintendo games I listed are only available through Nintendo.

As far as my mind being made up, I can assure you 1 gazillion % it is in no way near being made up. I am not leaning at all towards a PS3. I have made no decision whatsoever and will not do so until I've taken a few weeks at least to decide what is the best fit. I don't want to piss my money away on something I'm not happy with.

That's pretty much why I'm even entertaining the notion of other systems besides the Wii. My gamecube hasn't been played in a long time because I get bored easily with the same old same old.
I also have game nights with friends. (board games, Scene it, karaoke games). If either system has games that are geared at all towards being new fun for game nights, that would be great too.

I'd go with a Wii. I got one for Christmas, and I love it. As does the whole family. And the Wii is less expensive, and has a better game library, IMO. (Super Mario Galaxy, for starters). Also, there are a lot of games coming out that are worth getting--and their Wii-exclusive. Super Smash Bros Brawl, Mario Kart Wii...

I've played the PS3, and I don't see the hype. There aren't even many games out for it.

I say go for the Wii.

After my husband and I got bored of the Wii (and decided our living room was too small for some of the games), we re-bought a Gamecube. We are big fans of Mario Kart and Mario Party...games that we play when we have friends over. Other than that, we haven't missed the Wii. And it wasn't too expensive to buy the Gamecube again with those 2 games (less than $100).

Good luck in your decision.

Oh - I did want to add...The Wii is probably a better value...I mean - you'll get more for your money. The system is 250$ and comes with Wii Sports which is a LOT of fun. I'm NOT a sports game fan - but I could stand there all day bowling or playing tennis, etc. Plus, the games are basically cheaper. I *think* most PS3 games are 60$ and most Wii are 50$ but the Wii also has some in the 30-40$ range. I have TWO games for the PS3 - a racing one that came with it (that I've yet to open) and Harry Potter. I have probably 6 or so games for the Wii. Oh - and if you DO go for the Wii - make sure you buy Wii Play. It a bunch of (FUN) mini games and comes with an extra Wiimote for FREE - VERY good deal.
