OK..my son, 13, has no more pants

he is growing like a weed. I buy him one size, and they don't fit a week later. He fits into my husbands old jeans. How scary is that?

I am so glad my friend talked me into shopping at the Salvation Army. No sense spending hundreds of dollars on clothes that won't fit him in a month.

My son is will not be 13 until January, we went to get shoes the other day size 12 WHAT!!!! He is only 12, this is crazy!!

My DD will be 13 in two months and she is growing like a weed this summer! She doesn't fit any of her jeans, I bought her a new $80 pair of Nike's in May and they are too small

The only thing that is good is she is a basketball player so she is happy she is getting taller

Glad her b-day is in a few months I'll ask all my family members to get her gift cards to the mall so she can get new clothes

My son turns 16 this summer. Two years ago he started his huge growth spurt. Luckily he prefers shorts to pants and he was able to wear the same ones for three years, since he got skinnier as he got taller as well. His feet got to size 13 over a year ago, but seemed to have stopped growing (thank the lord) as we haven't had to buy a larger size in over a year. He's wearing last year's tennis shoes and flip flops. I know he still has a couple inches to go ih height, but I think we've past the major growth.

DD14 on the other hand is another story....she is getting curvier and her shorts and pants are all pretty tight. I think she'll be in for a whole new batch of pants come late fall. Ugh.

I'll try to get her to look in Goodwill....that child likes deals....

That's why mine never wears long pants from April to October -- shorts you can fudge with for a whole lot longer, LOL. His school allows shorts in April, May, August and September, and I spend a lot of time hoping for warm weather!

Mine is long-waisted, it's a family trait on both sides. He also inherited his dad's really broad shoulders. He wears size 14 slim pants at the moment, but he moved into Men's small shirts back in May.

Oh, yeah, he also went up FOUR shoe sizes in 10 months this year. His school shoes suddenly got too tight two weeks before school ended, so I bought him a cheap K-mart pair for $12. He doesn't wear anything on his feet but sandals in summer, so I figured I'd hold off buying closed shoes until 2 days before school starts!

Around the middle of April, most of DS's pants and jeans were all of a sudden too short. He had one pair of jeans that fit. So, he pretty much wore shorts for the remainder of the school year. There were a couple of chilly days, but I could not see buying new jeans that he'd wear for a month, and would likely be too small when school went back in Sept.

He's wearing all shorts now since it's summer vacation. Hopefully, it will be a warm early fall, and he won't need long pants/jeans until mid-October or later.

Our schools allow shorts any time of year....I think my son wore them during every month last school year....on most days. I had to really talk him into pants on some of the really cold days. And we're talking about wearing shorts in freezing weather in the 30s (the classrooms are like ovens anyway for the most part!).

We're right there with you. DS14 is shooting up! He grew about 1" last week alone! His feet are growing, his legs are growing, his nose is growing. Bless his heart, everything looks too tight and too short. I also am shopping at the thrift store--no reason to buy full price when I know he's only going to wear the pants for a month.

When DS grew out of his school jeans within 10 weeks (a few years ago) he started wearing the elastic waisted basketball shorts and wore them the rest of that year until he stopped growing so much so quickly I did the same thing with DD this past year. As for shoes, I never pay more than $30 until their feet stop growing. DD went from a kids size 2 to a womens size 6 in less than a year! It appears her feet have slowed now so she will be allowed a more expensive choice for school this year (maybe the Uggs she's wanted for a couple of years now)

I hate to discourage anyone, but DS grew at that age and now he is 18 and he is still growing! His feet did stop finally at a 12, but those legs keep getting longer and longer!

My DS13 is the same way. He's grown about 7 inches in the past year and a half and 4 shoe sizes. It's just nuts. Thankfully, he's super thin, so it's just length he's outgrowing on the pants. Alot of them were the zip off cargo types, so they're unzipped and shorts. We'll reassess come September.

And absolutely getting his stuff at Goodwill/SA. I swear I've bought him stuff that didn't fit by the end of the week!

I can totally relate! My son is 14 and is already 6'5" and is still growing. It is getting harder and harder to find jeans that are long enough for him.

Youngest DS is 17 and I have had to buy all new clothes for him in the last 6 mos. I have a feeling he's still going thru a growth spurt because he's hungry all the time!

I can also relate. My son is 13 and stands 6'2". He wears a mens size 30/32 jeans and his shirts are mens L/XL. I think his sneakers are a 10 1/2-11. He's always been tall for his age and I always had trouble getting pants to fit in the length. His legs are so long that I even have some trouble finding shorts that are long enough for him (he likes them long---hates the short shorts---wants them below his knee) I have found some of those at Kohl's. I like by Union Bay?

I may never have that problem when my 12 year old son hits the big growth spurt. He never, ever, never wears long pants, even to school. All year round he wears shorts.

His funny response to me about long pants was......"all the heat from his pants (long) would go to his brain and he then can't think."

Yep, LOL DD13 is growing UP more than OUT, so she's got several pairs of denim highwaters... that are now several pairs of denim capris or shorts, courtesy of my kitchen scissors
