OK, let's say you are turning 50 at BLT.....

what would you do to celebrate???

I first stayed at the Contemporary in 1972 with my parents. So for this big trip, I booked us into the BLT...never stayed there before. In fact, I've never stayed at the Contemporary since that 1972 trip, I realize now!

How would you celebrate a BIG birthday either there, or elsewhere on WDW property

I'm not a "party person" and prefer to keep celebrations quiet. For me I'd take the day to do what I love most about Disney: Visit the resorts I love (BW, VWL, AKV) Walk the parks, hit my favorite rides, treat myself to an experience I haven't yet had: maybe a restaurant or show. Finish out the day at TOTW Lounge and Fireworks, then return to my room and hang out on the balcony breathing in Disney and browsing the DIS before bedtime.

Everyone's different. It's not hard to keep me happy I have a few years to go before I need to think about the half century mark - but y'know, I think it's time to start planning

For my birthday trip, I did a cupcake a day.

My favorite was the Oreo Bon Bon cupcake at the Boardwalk Bakery. Although the carmel-drizzled frosting on the cupcake at Karamell-Kuche in Germany (Epcot) was excellent.

I celebrated my 50th at the CR, BLT was still being built. I went with my sister and we celebrated by having dinner at the California Grille. I really enjoyed it. They decorated the table with glitter and we had our picture taken and that was e-mailed to me, I thought that was nice. I wore the Happy Birthday pin all day, I just loved having perfect strangers wishing me a happy birthday.

Definitely celebrate the end of the day at California Grill, followed by a nightcap with your loved ones/friends and watch the fireworks at the Top of the World Lounge!

I celebrated my 60th by eating at the Yachtsmen Grill and doing the Wild Africa Trek. I think you'd love the California Grill and something else special, maybe a great drink at TOTWL.

I turned 50 at BLT in 2009. Had a great trip. Did dinner at Teppan Edo on my birthday. And did frozen margaritas in the Top of the World Lounge while watching the MK fireworks to end the day.

My husband turned 65 last year at OKW. We celebrated that one with dinner at the Hoop de Doo. And Mickey left him a signed picture in our room as a birthday card.

I agree with the above, except I would substitute Narcossee's for the CG. The Top of the World Lounge is one of our favorite places!

what's an illuminations cruise?

Go on the Disneyworld Website and look for other fun things to do. The illumination cruise will be listed. You pay money to be taken on a pontoon boat over to epcot to watch the fireworks from the water. I have not done this, however from everything I have read, you need to book well in advance.

For my 40th we booked a 1 hour excursion on the Yacht that is docked over at the Grand Floridian. Spent serious money to have it all decked out with food and drink for the 16 of us that went on it. We went all around the lake area and watched the sun set....it was very nice!

For my husband's b-day gave him 30 laps with the Richard Petty Driving school...he absolutely loved it, grinned from ear to ear.

I guess your original question could be best answered by what haven't you done yet. There is just so much that can be done outside of the parks themselves. I am certain no matter what you do, you will have fun.
