OK, I've got the ticker....Poly in August!!!

:cool1::banana: YAY!!! So excited for you! I can't believe you went from October to February to August! I think you will have a wonderful time on a trip with just you and Bradey. What wonderful memories you will make.

I can't wait to hear all about you park plans and ADR's. And don't worry....it will be GREAT in August!

Thanks! I know we will be fine. I know how to handle the heat now. And the crowd levels are really low compared to July last year. So we will be good.

Congrats, Suzi! :thumbsup2 Will you be there at the same time as D~ and her girls?

We will overlap...we get there a day ahead, but they stay longer.

And I think we will overlap Kathy a little too...yay!

Hi Patricia...sorry I kinda left you hangin' there :upsidedow. But I think I am back to stay for a while now. I really need a new computer, so once I get that set up, I will do a mini TR from my visit to FL a couple weeks ago. I have all the pics uploaded to Photobucket and ready to copy and paste.

My new job is going well....alot to learn, but I think I am getting there. They must like my work because my new boss has already asked me if I would be interested in getting my Property and Casualty license so I can do more there. Of course I will! But let me learn the basic stuff first. I will get that going this spring sometime.

*******************************************************

I have once again made a few changes. New title, new ticker.....yep I am going in August now. I haven't booked yet, but it is official to me. I talked with hubby last night and we agreed (well, I agreed and he didn't say "no", so that's all I need) that I will take a small portion of our tax refund and take the little guy on a summer trip.

I made it through the craziness of July tour groups and 90 degree heat and humidity, so how much worse can August really be?? If it is bad....just lie to me okay, because I am going.

Hubby has no intention of going to FL in the summer, so it is just Bradey and I. Well, I have invited my cousin to come along with us if she wants to pay her flight and park tickets....but I'm not sure if she will do it or not. I told her I needed to know in the next couple of weeks either way. I am already at a disadvantage because I am beyond my 180 days mark already, so I need to know soon. If she comes with us, we will be staying at either POR (Alligator Bayou for the 3 beds) or AoA Nemo suite. If she doesn't come, it will be POFQ hands down.

So, it's getting late....and I was up at 4am this morning planning my park days. I had the talk with hubby last night, so this morning I was in full planning mode. Now I am paying for it. I just really want to hold out for a PIN code. I got 4 of them as soon as I saved a trip to my online account last year. But their website is very different now and I'm not sure I know how to save them anymore. So maybe I can just hold off for a couple more weeks.

I know I have no chance of getting BOG for dinner, but after looking at the menu, it doesn't really appeal to me anyway. So I feel pretty confident that I can still get some good ADRs. Hey, I planned my whole July 2012 trip in 2 months! I got all the ADRs I wanted even that late, so I should be fine.

My biggest ADR requirement is the Wishes Dessert Party again. And that doesn't open up until at least June, so I will be fine.

So....if I still have any readers....bear with me just a little longer and things will start happening in the planning department :wave2:

Of course - I love your plans.

I don't know much about Aug touring, especially late in Aug like we are going, but The crowd predictions are giving the majority of our planned days in the parks a 2 or 3. Our highest crowds day is a 4.6 - and considering that during spring break - there were several "low" days of 9.9, I think we will be so much better off.

I am very concerned about the heat... I plan to some how buy 2 or 3 casees of Gatorade/Powerade and require the girls and I each drink 1 per day.

I am passing along the link for our FB Aug group - so you can join in the fun.... I am not very active there - but I love all the people in all of my groups - and it's so nice to be able to get your specific questions answered relatively easily. :grouphug:

Thanks for making my day today Suzi! You have been such an excellent Dis friend. :woohoo:

The most important question is WHEN in August are you and Bradey going? Are you there any of our dates?

You know...they have the single serve powder that you add to water in gatorade. Or it might have been Powerade...but same thing. If you just grabbed a few of those and then got ice water at any quick serve or food cart, you wouldn't have to carry bottles around with you. That's what Dani and I did in July. I bought all kinds of cool stuff to help me deal with the heat and honestly...I didn't use much of it. I had a little carbiner fan which felt nice while waiting in a hot line, and we made sure to take it easy and stop often for water. But with our touring style of getting there early and taking a break midday, it was very very manageable.

I knew any counter service place would give you ice water for free, but I didn't realize most of the carts would too. As long as they have the fountain drinks vs bottles...it is such a great thing. It is kinda a pain to wait in a long line for just water, but the carts rarely have a line.

Another great tip I learned on here is to bring along a few baggies from home. When you go to bed at night, wet a washcloth and freeze it overnight in the baggie. Grab it in the morning when you head out and use it while it's still cool. When it gets warm just run into the ladies room and wet with cold water. It is amazing how much cooler you feel just rubbing cold water on your neck and forehead.

Awww...thanks D. :flower3: I already joined the FB group...I can't bring myself to leave the October one though :sad1: But August is much much closer.....

You know what else is closer??? MOA! Yay! I can't wait to meet you and Mo! So...you and the girls all like Duffy now?? I have to tell you....it is nice to know that. I can easily handle you (Donald) and V (Goofy), but the only favorite I knew of for A was Up and they are really hard to find! I mean.....say if one was trying to figure out little gifs to give....totally hypothetical of course :scratchin

The most important question is WHEN in August are you and Bradey going? Are you there any of our dates?

I think we are! We are arriving Sunday 8/18 and leaving Sat 8/24. I hope we can meet up at some point :cheer2:

*************************************************

So, I am once again having trouble deciding where I want to stay. It is between POFQ, POR (AB), AoA (LionKing), and Wilderness Lodge. I was concerned with the size of AoA, but after researching it more closely...it really has a good set up and doesn't look too bad. I think if we were in the Little Mermaid section it would be a long walk, but the other ones all look fairly close to the main building. It sure would be nice to have all that room to spread out....especially if it is rainy that week.

But I sure do love POFQ. The biggest problem with that is if my cousin, Sara comes with us. We will need to put Bradey on the floor on a blowup mattress. Not a huge deal....he is pretty small and will sleep anywhere, but it will make a small room even smaller. At this moment, I am leaning more towards AoA, but will probably end up at FQ. Although....they don't usually offer discounts for FQ. It is usually POR, which is why that is on the list. Oy....I just wish I would get a PIN code, then I can just book anywhere. Time will tell. I plan on waiting until the current offer is over and they come out with a summer offer before booking, but I'm not sure if I can hold out that long. I'll let you know when I figure it all out, but your advise is always welcome. Anyone been to see AoA? Is it huge? I've heard cell service there is very spotty and that is an issue for me too. I know my phone works well at FQ.

*************************************************

It is very quiet here this week. We are in the middle of our school vacation week and my parents flew home from FL too. So Monday night, Bradey stayed with my parents...Tuesday night he stayed at my grandmother's house and tonight he is there again. He misses her so much. A little backstory.....my Gram is an amazing woman. She is 85 years old this year. She has been watching my little guy ever since he was 3 months old and I had to go back to work. This year when he started school, even though she lives in the same district as us, they can't bus him to her house after school. So I took a cut in hours and now pick him up from school at 2. So the only time he sees her and "Papa" is when we have a teacher workshop or snowday, or vacation like this. So when he asked to stay there twice this week, it was hard for me to say no. Alas....Casa Suzi is very very quiet this week.

But he is very excited to go back to Disney. He still thinks he wants to stay at the Poly again....but I have news for him! :sad2:

Thanks for letting me ramble. Still working on a computer so I can get started with this PTR officially. I think I have narrowed it down to a few. Making that purchase this weekend. Say tunned....

You know what... That is an excellent idea! I didn't even think of that! I wonder if they are the same thing as what you buy in the bottles? I usually hate drink add-ins, they always tasted like the are full of chemicals, but I have never tried the Gatorade/Power aide concoctions. :thumbsup2 I really think that this is what we are going to do. Thanks Suzi!

I always carry our Britta filtered water bottle down there. I don't like the taste of their water, and the Britta makes it taste very good. I don't think I will be able to put the gatorade packets in the filtered bottle though - so I may end up ordering a case or 2 of water from Walmart... I jsut saw last week that they will deliver to your resort - which is super cool.

Excellent idea as well! I am certain we will do this... Not up to carrying around mister fans, but I do like the washcloth trick! :thumbsup2

Speaking of gifts... Bradey's favorite??? Has he started pin trading yet?

I am so excited to meet both of you - as well. princess:

[I think we are! We are arriving Sunday 8/18 and leaving Sat 8/24. I hope we can meet up at some point :cheer2:

I know you are struggling with where to stay... To be quite honest, if I were you, I would book a preferred room at POR - that was you are guaranteed an Alligator Bayou room... Then I would order a bed rail from Mousekeeping... Then all of you will have your own beds. :goodvibes

To be honest - even though we LOVE FQ - I am quite excited that we are staying at POR this time... The only part I am worried about is the "bigness" of it, but after mapping it out - our walk won't be too much longer than it was at FQ - maybe a bit - but not like SoG, for sure.

That is so awesome that Bradey is so close to your grandmother... It's a relationship that he will treasure his whole life, and a gift that your grandmother treasures as well. :lovestruc

Can wait to hear all about your ADRs and what you have planned for your trip. I'd love it if we could overlap a day in one of the parks - even if it's only for a few hours... I know my girls would fall head-over-heels in love with Bradey. :crowded: :lovestruc If you want, I can send your our over view schedule to see if any of our park days overlap. :lovestruc

D~

I was playing around with the My Disney Experience app on my phone tonight. I made my first two ADRs for the trip. Via Napoli at 6:20 on arrival night (8/18). And Boma on 8/20 at 6:15. Wow...it is really easy to make ADRs on the app! Much better than their website.

I wish I could do it on my phone app... For some reason I can't find the spot that allows me to link my resort info, even though I am signed in.

We have never done Via Napoli. We did Boma last time - and it was nice, but it didn't make our "must do" list this time.

WooHoo...got my new computer all set up and running. What is the first thing I log on to?? DISboards of course! I have had a huge DIS withdrawal since I left my old job. Now that I have a lightning fast computer at home, I am back! Look at me go... :moped:

Yep, I am "wicked smart" (said with the perfect Maine accent)... Dani and I brought these every day to the parks, but to be honest, the ice water was just fine. I don't think I could've drank the water from the fountains, but the filtered ice water from the fountain soda machines was fine.

I know - I am still part of the Oct group... I love everyone there, but I have to say that I don't check in there often anymore... I really need to do that today.

I left the Oct group and joined the August group. I haven't said much on there yet because my plans aren't very finalized yet, but they will be soon.

Awww... Thanks! You don't have to do that - honest! If I can't talk you out of buying them gifts... A nice idea would be a trader pin... They are relatively cheap, and then they can trade it for a special pin from you. :thumbsup2

Speaking of gifts... Bradey's favorite??? Has he started pin trading yet?

Is there something special about the "trader pins"? Or is it just any pin?? I found a couple really cute ones I was thinking of. They were flip flops (for your summer trip...get it??)

And no, Bradey isn't into it yet. I didn't want to bother with it on our first trip, but maybe this time. I want him to be old enough and confidant enough to go up to the CMs and ask to trade. Might have to wait til next time. Although, they did have those flip flop pins with Chip n Dale on them! I think they are still his favorite. Although he likes just about any character.

I know you are struggling with where to stay... To be quite honest, if I were you, I would book a preferred room at POR - that was you are guaranteed an Alligator Bayou room... Then I would order a bed rail from Mousekeeping... Then all of you will have your own beds. :goodvibes

I think that is where we will end up. Unless Sara decides not to come, then we will be at FQ. But I will definitely be walking up to POR for their MYO pasta!

I know you girls will be very happy with your choice. You are right, POR is huge ... but you aren't walking the entire resort every time you go to the food court or buses. Just a little section of it. I would be worried about the bus stop over my your room though for morning, might be better to walk over to the first stop. But in the evening, coming back from the parks, it will be nice to be able to ride the bus around to your building! Maybe we can come see your room for a second, so I can see what a Royal Room looks like??

I would absolutely love that! Especially if it is just Bradey and I. I might need a little adult conversation :lmao: I just don't want to be a bother to you. I know how busy a Disney week is and sometimes trying to meet up with someone else is hard. I totally understand. The first trip we took (Last Feb) I had a bunch of DISers that wanted to meet up, but it was our first trip and I just honestly didn't have a minute to spare. But after having a couple of quick meets last July, I found out it was fun. And besides...after our MOA meet, we will be old friends :lovestruc I definitely would like to meet up. Not sure if V & A are planning on coming with you in May, but I would love to meet them too.

I wish I could do it on my phone app... For some reason I can't find the spot that allows me to link my resort info, even though I am signed in.

We have never done Via Napoli. We did Boma last time - and it was nice, but it didn't make our "must do" list this time.

I don't have them linked, because I don't have a room reservation yet. But I am not on the dining plan, so they don't have to be linked for me.

I have Via Napoli, Boma, Kona for breakfast and Chefs for lunch one day. And I hope to get the Dessert Party again. I just loved that! But it won't open up until later.

*****************************************************

So everyone...I have my new computer hooked up and I promise, I promise, I promise I will get an update or two done soon. But it is almost 7:30 right now and I have to get Bradey in the bath and ready for bed. Coming soon...

- Mini TR from our visit to my parents in Jan.
- Updates on ADRs for August
- Daily plans, resort choice, fellow guests, etc.

Please stay tuned!

Nothing too special - they just need to be any trader pin purchased from Disney... That can be from TDS or Disneyonline or WDW...

THere is a thread here on The Dis all about pin trading... There are certain CMs who will only trade with kids - I think they wear the green lanyards... I am sure the first few times, Bradey might need some help, but after that, I am sure he will love it - my girls do... and they always go out of their way (V especially) to talk to the CMs, they love talking to them and hearing their stories.

I have heard of Garden Grocer, but I haven't heard that Wally World does it...that would be cool though.

:rotfl2: Yeah, my room is only clean on arrival day....before we unpack. I was funny in July...Dani and I went to MK while we were waiting for our room and when we got back, I made her stand outside for a bit while I took pictures of the clean room. I totally forgot about getting pics of our Poly room last Feb. Well, we will be there on the Saturday before you, so we can meet you when you check in and see it before it gets destroyed :thumbsup2

******************************************************

Okay, so this is what I have so far.

Saturday August 17:
Our plane leaves Manchester at 7:05 and arrives at MCO around 10:30.

We will get to the resort just before lunch.

I don't believe our room will be ready at this time, so we will drop our carry-ons with Bag Services and have some lunch.

If our room still isn't ready, we will head to Magic Kingdom. It is hot and crowded during the middle of the day, but we can get a ride on the People Mover in and a walk around to see what's new and introduce Sara (my cousin...Dani's sister) to the wonders of Disney.

When we get the text saying the room is ready, we will hop on the monorail and ride over to Epcot to catch the bus back to POR. Why do this?? Well, I just love arriving at Epcot via monorail and this is really the only time we can do it. Plus, Bradey loves the monorail and it might be the only way I can get him away from MK after such a short time.

We will shower and head to Epcot for our arrival night ADR at Via Napoli at 6:20 pm. Yum! I can't wait for this. I fell in love with VN in July and am very excited to go back. I think this routine will be a normal thing from now on. It works well.

If we are too tired after the meal, we will go back to POR and hit the hay. If we feel like going, we will stay and watch Illuminations (can you believe I have still never seen this?).

So, that's our first day.

Here is an overview of my plans for the week. Now these are all subject to change. I feel a little weird because I have hardly any morning EMHs planned...and that is usually a staple. But the schedules just didn't mesh with my plans.

Sat 8/17 Arrive, MK, EP - Via Napoli 6:20pm
Sun 8/18 Magic Kingdom rope drop - no ADRs...all QS
Mon 8/19 Epcot rope drop - no ADRs...all QS
Tue 8/20 Animal Kingdom rope drop - Boma 6:15pm
Wed 8/21 Free day....DTD and WPE breakfast, AoA dinner
Thur 8/22 MK#2 (EMH) - Kona 10:35am and Wishes Dessert Party hopefully
Fri 8/23 HS rope drop - Chefs de France 12:50pm
Sat 8/24 Free morning, Magical Express will pick us up around 3:30 for a 6:30pm flight. We get back home very very late that night, but will have Sunday to recoop.

So that's what I have so far. Planner coming up. And I think I have Photobucket figured out on my new Windows 8 computer, so I can get to that mini TR I promised.

Another big storm here today.....man am I sick of winter! Is it August yet?? :rolleyes1

I have heard of Garden Grocer, but I haven't heard that Wally World does it...that would be cool though.

Yes, I saw this in a thread a few weeks ago - but I have yet to dig into it.

[: Yeah, my room is only clean on arrival day....before we unpack. I was funny in July...Dani and I went to MK while we were waiting for our room and when we got back, I made her stand outside for a bit while I took pictures of the clean room. I totally forgot about getting pics of our Poly room last Feb. Well, we will be there on the Saturday before you, so we can meet you when you check in and see it before it gets destroyed

ROFL! Well, that will be the ONLY chance you ever have to see it clean.

Did you purchase your flights already?

This sounds like a fun first day... We are usually more laid back... We arrive... We eat CS at the resort... We check out the grounds... Hope our room is ready... Head out to MK to tell "the world" we have arrived... Enjoy a Dole Whip... Back to the resort early - ready to take on the World the next morning, bright and early.

YAY!!! I can't believe I've been planning our Aug trip for months... And I fear you have your airfare before I do. :faint: Prices are just so high right now, I can't buy yet. :crazy2:

D~

I just read your schedule and it sounds great. We are both at the Magic Kingdom on the 18th and the 22nd so we will definitely set up a meet time.

Nope...you are right. The prices are too high right now. I am waiting a little. Plus...still waiting on Sara to tell me if she wants to go. I cant get flights until then.
